People are just preparing themselves for what seems inevitable.

Of course there are a number of factors which means port won't be premiers but if we do not prepare ourselves now it's going to be a very long, stressful and anxious few months coming up.
If Port beat Melbourne or Collingwood at the G on GF day good on em. They earnt it.

The 48 points means they are going ok ;) 3 teams have a better percentage than them and 2 have proven to be flaky.

All you can do is keep winning and they’ve managed that against 7 of the top 10 teams.

I get none of us want them to win, I’m dreading it, but the mental gymnastics that is used by some to downplay their performances and premiership credentials is embarrassing.

They’ve got an elite midfield that will carry them for 10 years, they can top up any deficiencies over that time but the nucleus of a premiership team is there.

Time will tell if who we have recruited as midfielders will get to that level, at the moment it’s only hope as compared to their reality.
Let's face it, they play an enjoyable brand of Footy to watch.

Much better than the crap played last night.

Port have the best midfield in the comp right now. But their bookends are flaky. It is a midfield game though....

We will get there. What we don't have in the midfield, and our midfield is shaping up to be pretty good, we make up for at the bookends.

They also don’t have any depth. If their midfield gets injured, they’re in trouble.

Can i just suggest to all on here to bet on a powa premiership. If they win you can console yourself with cash, if they lose (and you have jinxed it via sportsbet) it will be the best cash you have ever spent 😂
Can you back them for me. A bit short of cash atm. I'll pay you back. Promise.;)

Any top team with an elite midfield will suffer if their elite mids go down, that’s a ridiculous benchmark you’re applying.
Port have no depth in any position.

Not a problem at the moment but they will struggle to replace their aging key position players which leads me to think their window is right now.

I don't think their overall squad is good enough and think they'll get exposed in finals. Teams that play finals also have good midfields but IMO are more well rounded elsewhere than Port.

Wouldn’t be at all surprised year end if both Ratagoleau and McKay are playing for them. That’s their backline keys locked up for years.

My controversial opinion is they both suck

I'd have to win a hell of a lot of money to therefore make it OK for them to win a premiership.

I’m taking solace that they were minor premiers in 2020, 2021 had two home preliminary finals and blew both of them.

Expectation is growing with their winning streak - still 9 weeks until we get to finals.

I still remember 2006, we were 14-2 and didn’t make a grand final and yes we had two home finals including a preliminary final.

Anything can happen.

They're dramatically different.

In 2020 and 2021 they were paper champions, and everyone knew it. They continuously blew games to top four contenders.

They're not doing that now. This year legitimate teams stand up and throw with them, and they're weathering the storm. The frightening thing is that it's often Butters and JHF and guys with long futures who are turning the tides in those games.

Port are a legitimately good team, and a good shot at winning it. People would be better off just accepting that and stop repetitively posting the same copium.

I'm just talking about who they have to come in - their SANFL team is terrible. We have a number of players that could replace the first 22 - obviously not as good as them, but the gap between our two teams is much less than it is with Port. If Laird went down, then Berry or Hately or Crouch comes in - they've got no depth at all.

The irony is when we beat them I was hanging shit on my Port mates about their lack of depth and shit Magpies side. Since then they’ve brought a number of players into their team, they’ve covered injuries and the magpies have been better.

So I wouldn’t say they have no depth is backed up by their results.

All the players next in line for spots will not help them win finals. Mead next in line in the midfield, Lord next in line forward, Fantasia as a small forward. You wouldn't want to rely on any of them to replace one of their key players.

Sure Jackson Mead will be alright when they're playing Hawthorn, what about Collingwood at the MCG?

How will fringe players like McEntee, Bonner, Williams, Jones, Farrell, Sinn go in a game like that?

Of course all teams have fringe players, I just don't think Port run particularly deep and rely heavily on their top handful of midfielders. That has been enough for wins right now, is it enough come finals? Not sure

Pretty much all those players you’ve mentioned have been playing in their undefeated team against quality opposition including Lord

We'll see how that goes for them in finals if they need to.

Right now they're playing well, as we were in 2017.

Melbourne and Collingwood both have a midfield and depth. I would tip them in finals and especially at the MCG. With that said Melbourne will need to improve their coaching

Having to play in finals isn't exclusive to Port. Other teams have players that can be exposed too.

I think there is a good chance of an implosion over Kenny's contract when it comes to crunch time.

Also, imo they are vulnerable come the dry weather against key forwards given their lack of a decent lockdown key defender.

How many teams have been flying mid season only to fall over...
