The match against GWS was in 36c with humidity (sweating profusely whilst sitting in the stands so god knows what it was like on the field) and given we had a shorter break against Richmond (9 days against 5 days) we were always going to struggle in that match after playing in that humidity. We had no petrol tickets left half way thru the last quarter against Richmond.

And add to that our goal kicking didn’t help.
It was the goal kicking that did us in. Heat is not really relevant for the Crows against GWS as GWS were also playing in the heat and contrary to what some people said they were not used to it. You don't get used to playing AFL footy in 36 degree high humidity. Heat was more relevant for the 5 day break against Richmond. GWS didn't have a bench for most of the 2nd half and if Rankine didn't have the yips they would have been put away by half time.

Nek minit…

Big billy has a premiership medal around his neck!…

Perfect type pickup for a contending club like Pies. No point us having decent depth as we’re nowhere near contending at the pointy end. We need to be working through our depth to find potential high level first 22 players. Type of guy that’s near as likely to win a Norm Smith as he is a Leon Davis.

So how does one stop Nick Daicos?

As soon as he leaves the back line do you rotate players to go with him?
Keays should be told to follow him closely when he goes forward... but also run hard the other way when we have the ball.

Keays is probably the fittest player at our club & he needs to try & run Daicos ragged.

Keays will be the man imo.

Yep, kept Saad to just the 30 odd last year, ideal defensive opponent for young Daicos. The only way to stop the kid is to run a full oval hard tag. Keays didn’t do anything like that against Saad, they both played their own games, with Keays being much more damaging. But they were barely within 10m of each other in general play.

We would absolutely be stupid beyond belief if we dont tell Keays to hard tag N Daicos next week...
And yet I'm sure we'll "back our system in" and he'll have another+35 2 goal game and we'll say in the presser that he wasn't the sole reason for the loss and that the team as whole needs to defend the whole ground better.

Eh..i was at unley oval a few years back and sturt were 4 goals up at 3/4 time against norwood..11 goals to 7. Then something went badly wrong and norwood kicked 13 goals to 1 point in the last. I recall another sturt disaster a ling time back. Up 49 points v the bays at 3/4 time and lost by 18.

I was conditioned to last 1/4 horror shows. This wasn't that bad in comparison😬

Speaking of Collingwood and last quarter horror shows, anyone remember that time in 2010-11(?) they kicked 11 goals in the last 20 minutes against us to turn a 20-odd point deficit to a 40-odd point win?

Imagine being happy Tassie arent getting AFL because the Greens scuttled it

You live a very sad life
LOL

Greens couldn't scuttle a wet lettuce leaf, you're the sad one...
