4 coleman medals to 3, kicked over 100 more goals and played only 12 more games, won a brownlow, 5 times all australian team to 2 times and kicked more goals than any other player in VFL / AFL history

we can agree to disagree but the accolades show a pretty 1 sided picture

They really don’t. They show a guy who never won, teams couldn’t win with. A lot of reductive, counting metrics for the individual

And what you miss, is his teams didn’t win because of him; how he played

that style of black hole full forward, was a liability. It was all about the individual and not the team.

When did you ever see him chase? Not once.

This is my point, only 1 of those guys played a complete, team oriented style of game.

Unsurprisingly their teams were a lot more successful

I think you might find the Hawks were as good as they were because they also had the most high quality players in the league like:
Brereton, Ayres, Langford, Platten, D Jarman, Dipper, John Kennedy, Andy Collins, Chris Mew, Darren Pritchard, Gary Buckenara, Michael Tuck, Paul Dear and the list goes on. As I said, put Lockett in that side and he might have kicked 2000 goals with the quantity of quality ball he would have had coming in ;)

Hard to hang it on lockett for being in a team for 2/3 of his career that was in and around the bottom of the ladder.

Does that make Robert Harvey any less of a legend because he didn't win a flag? what about Nathan Buckley? Dozens of great players never won a flag but are considered greats of the game

Robert Harvey played for who?

But anyway, I think we can both agree that both players were genuine superstars of the AFL and Dunstall's induction as an AFL legend is thoroughly deserved and he was awesome to watch play as was the great man Lockett
Exactly - both were absolute guns.

For those trying to talk one player down over the other, just stop as you are embarrassing!

Dunstall very impressive on the Couch.

He was talking about when he became the 'Chief' at Hawthorn, big review of the footy department, plenty of pressure for him to pick an ex-Hawks player to be the new coach (I missed the name) but he stood firm and went for Clarkson as "we were still doing things the Hawthorn way and it wasn't working, we needed to try something different".

Meanwhile at the AFC........

It was Gary Ayres. Huge pressure from board member Dermott Brereton

Curious to see what Kane McGoodwin disagrees with here?

Well that’s a lie, I couldn’t care less but it’s a fun exercise to show others

Nicky Winmar
Nathan Burke
Robert Harvey

Nothing wrong that midfield service

3 hall of famers.

Not much wrong there

Also worth noting that St Kilda showed no negative effects of his leaving.

St Kilda ladder finishes
1993 - 12th
1994 - 13th
—— Lockett Leaves
1995 - 14th
1996 - 10th
1997 - 1st

Not seeing too much negative impact there

Kids: don’t drink and post. Especially on a Monday night

Yeah, any team would be better off without a champion like Plugger lol. He had no impact at Sydney either...

You keep going with that theory as it's hilarious...

Lockett was a champion as was Dunstall. Trying to talk one down over the other is crazy.

Sorry,
I'm relatively newb-ish round here & I'm sure it's been raised before..

But who the FLOCK do Ports-'Near'-Adelaide think they are?

I noticed (not for the first time) they've tried to put themselves on a pedestal on Big Footy,
Why Da Fq. are they the only club with.. "PAFC-EST 18,700,000,000 B.C when Moses parted the seas only to reveal Wowberton", on the 'Clubs' page?

Also this shiz, like I saw tonight.
Super Saturday..sure, but why does one panel look like it was designed in house at Rising Sun Pictures? It was legit animated!🙆.
Ours (by comparison) I had to actually adjust the brightness to see what it was.. Yes partiality as ours sucks but are the raptor spikes really the most recognised part? I'd of thought a glowing eye...or a throbbing beak! at the very least.
I didn't understand much of that but I liked it for use of 'throbbing beak'

Nathan Murphy has retired. Another one to join the concussion class action.
