I think Port can get it done without touching their 2024 first.

I'm guessing it could be something along the lines of BZT + Pick 28 for Duursma and Pick 44.

Port will then try and ship Pick 28 and 38 for Esav

I have no idea about Sweet, maybe a future 3rd or something along those lines?

I don't think we can underestimate just how much fun a death-riding Port 1st round thread would be.

They traded their 2022 and 2023 first rounder for JHF, aren't the rules that you're meant to use at least 2 first round picks within the surrounding 4 years?

it is always fun to speculate on how out could prise picks out

Port seem like they are pushing Duursma out to secure the players they want so they don't have to lose their F1.I could see a path deal that would likely suit all parties if we are not wedded to a player at 9 that could get everyone what they want

Port in: North end of 2024 1st round compo pick, crows pick 23
Port out: F1

North in: Crows pick 9
North out: Pick 14 & 2024 end of 1st round compo pick

Helps north move up the order if they are looking at a play for pick 1 as it gives them picks 2,3 (likely compo) and 9 and still have the end of 1st round this year and 1 x end of 1st round 2024 + their own 2024 1st

Helps port get into this draft with 23 to get Ratugolea and still already have a couple of picks (late 2nd & early 3rd) to get BZT with and they still stay in the 2024 1st round.

We drop from 9 to 14, lose 1 of our number of likely 2nds but gain an F1 (which as others speculate, could be a great pick if port drop down the table and it would be hilariously good fun to death ride them)

They can - there was an AFL article floating around where they said all clubs can trade their F1 this year without restriction

Given that they traded for the player who was #1 in the 2021 ND, I think it's reasonable to expect that the AFL would give them an exemption.

I see North have once again stated that they'll match unless given pick 3..... compensation isn't given out until the deal is signed so how would they know??

I’ll tell you one thing, we’d be better waiting for the McKay compo to come out before lodging the Doedee paperwork.

Might be able to latch onto or apply pressure to get similar judgement applied in the secret herbs and spices formula.

We don't have a lot of say in the timing of the Doedee paperwork. Brisbane & Doedee will lodge it whenever they see fit, and we have 48 hours to decide whether or not to match (we won't be matching). Adelaide does not have control in this situation.

We want to move up this year & down next year though.

Unless we are using picks on trading in a gun player, we should be aiming to move up in this year's draft.

It's actually brilliant from Port. Dodo is demanding a first-rounder, so Port say you can have Duursma, who was a "first-rounder".
