A fair trade.

Geelong is set to ask Port Adelaide to send young gun Ollie Lord their way in a proposed deal for Esava Ratugolea.

According to 9News Adelaide, the Cats are keen on the 21-year-old forward being included in any deal that would send Ratugolea to Alberton.

Lord is contracted and is already in discussions for an extension

Geelong screwed Collingwood over last year for Ollie Henry

just the last 20 seconds of this. i like the kid!

Given he made reference to wearing number 9 at West Coast (Nic Nat and Ben Cousins), I actually think that he's being serious when he says that he will commit to West Coast if selected.

True, means he has some knowledge and background of what may happen if drafted by the Eagles.

Might be the lack of "media training" but I wish more players had the balls to call out reporters like this. I'm sure the media boys club will turn on him if he does go to West Coast (and keep the jibes up). Just bullshit how the reporters get to sit behind their keyboards on on their radio shows and just spew any nonsense they can come up with, especially old rollercoaster hair McClure.

Honestly think Reid wants to stay in Victoria but only play for a big Melbourne club. Now that it looks like North are most likely suitors for Pick 1, he would much rather play for West Coast and ask for a trade in a few years vs play for North where a trade to another Victorian club would be harder because of no go home excuse.

The other amazing thing about the Vic based AFL media is Vic teams should pick the best player available regardless of state where as Interstate teams should pick the best local player available and leave the best VIC player to play in their home state in front of their home crowds. Its no coincidence that Reid is widely reported by footy media to not wanting to leave Victoria. Yet in SA we all knew JHF didnt want to go to Norf, yet the AFL media didnt say boo, even urged North to turn the Crows deal down. Its complete double standards.

As for Reid, it would not surprise me in the least if his manager is already courting contract offers from Vic clubs to come back to Victoria next year if West Coast draft him and a concerted media campaign is being organised telling WCE how homesick he is and WCE should trade him home.

The Exact Strategy JHF used

Will have to pay big time as all draftees will have a 3 year contract this year

Chris Judd didn’t want to go to West Coast.

But Perth is a pretty cool place, and if like Judd he gives everything for a couple of years then goes home to a kings ransom - what’s not to like?
