They were saying not he radio last night that Geelong told Port not to split their future 1st as they wouldn't accept 1 of the resulting picks. Port went ahead and did it anyway.
So to some degree they were framing Port as acting in bad faith
I get Geelong's position, that the Port pick isn't going to get them a player they want this year. The reality is that ER simply isn't worth a F1 (which could well be a pick 8-12 range) in what's shaping to be a deep draft.
At this point in time I'd be ok to see Geelong get SFA
You'd have to wonder if in hindsight they'd have been better off letting ER go last year? Though I can't remember what Port could've offered then though and can't be bothered looking it up
Was a low 30’s pick last year
Didn’t St Kilda or Freo do this a few years back? Club was pushing for their first rounder and they split it to get multiple deals done. Still all worked out from memory
