Otherwise known as the "Accumulator" award. The biggest issue I have with the Brownlow is that it’s exclusively a midfielders award.
How you fix that, I have no idea.

What's harder and more impactful - 4 goals, or 25 disposals? 3 goals? 2?The only other position that could realistically win is a forward, and they probably don't do enough to get votes
Only twice in the last decade has a player kicked more than 70 goals to win the Coleman. Curnow this year kicked 78
However of his games he only kicked more than 3 goals on 6 occasions. He polled votes in all of those games, but 0 votes in any of the others.
Tex kicked more than 3 on 8 occasions, and polled in 6 of those games. The two non polling games he kicked 4 goals.
It's pretty fair that the three best midfielders on the ground might poll higher than a forward that gets three goals.

I'd take a player who averages 3 goals a game over someone who averages 25 disposals every day.
Rance and Houli are the reason Richmond beat us in 2017. Killed our forward line, and set up their attacks.30 touches off half back. 10 intercept marks. 8 score involvements. Rotates between pantsing Hipwood and Daniher.
Make it happen big Bill!
As long as you don’t pick him back up in the PSD do what you like
If you do pick him in the psd all hell will rain down
Was it that fat idiot Davies that said last week it'll be easier to get done cause he's out of contract lolLol
Make them pay a kings ransom as far as i care
So could they introduce a best defender and best forward award?Happens in a lot of sports. The NFL MVP is dominated by quarterbacks. Do keepers win the ballon 'Or?
In team sports there tend to be positions that are more important than other positions. The best of those players tends to win the award. It kind of is what it is.
Just Geelong being arrogant w@nkers, and trying to extract the most out of the deal.Lol

Neither won the NS. Houli should have.
Frampton would need an all time blinder to win it.

But you don’t get to know what the compensation will be if the player walks. That’s the part in question.
However we all know how the AFL works. Since you’re a Victorian club they’ll no doubt tell you on the sly at a Docklands cafe, and it’ll be another first round priority pick donation from the league.
Aren’t North asking to know before contracts are lodge me and therefore trying to game the system? It is my understanding that any club can request an indication by the AFL as to the potential compensation after the player accepts that free agency contract and it is lodged with the AFL. That is subject to change if there is other free agency movement. They just wont tell clubs before contracts are lodged as they don't want people to game the system.
The team going into the 8 but with free low draft picks of course......The talk about us not getting any help while North are getting refurnished with priority picks …
Which team would you rather be right now?
You can be the team that has been so bad over the last few seasons that everyone thinks they should fold … that hold another bunch of low draft picks.
Or you can be the team most likely to jump from missing the finals into the eight in 2024 … with one of the most exciting young lists in the comp.
Careful what you wish for.
Butters not winning the Brownlow was like icing on the Power cake of 2023.Speaking of the Brownlow, did anyone see Butters arriving in his Limo?

But if you only find out after lodging the paperwork, don’t you have to commit to match/not match before knowing the compo? Or do you find out after Essendon have lodged? No, we are saying we will match a bid that isn't band one. Nobody knows what is band one, but clubs have been able to guess around the mark, ie Daniher. Swans were confident that they would be able to get band one compensation had McKay chosen them.
