Brisbane seems a bit like the Crows, taken a step backwards this year. Lost to Hawthorn as well.

I could certainly do with a few Dakota Davidson tantrums!

Lol that Port take the record for the highest AFLW score and then lose it less than 24 hours later.
It's lucky that North aren't playing GC this year, otherwise we'd be in for 200+ win

I was watching the game, they are leaking some soft goals, their defensive football has slipped. I am not sure if it is because the opposition is getting better or because they are regressing, but they do not look as formidable as they have in previous years.

I think some of the younger sides have learnt some painful lessons over the last couple of years that you can't be all gas and no breaks, I think they have improved defensively. It makes them a lot more dangerous.

Brisbane has conceded 126 points in 3 games so far and dropped two home games. They only conceded 335 for the entire season last year, they are having a lot more problems restricting sides with dangerous small forwards. I think they have been too static in terms of their football. We exposed some big flaws in their style of play and they don't seem to have adjusted over the pre-season and other teams are exploiting the same weaknesses.

Interesting looking ladder after 4 games, 7 teams are 1 and 3 including Port and Geelong who were teams I definitely thought were finals certainties and Geelong only got their first win today. Richmond and Freo who I thought would push for the 8 look garbage too.

Lauren Young making her long awaited AFLW debut for Port after her own multiple knee reconstructions. Will be interesting to see if she can put a run of games together.

She was at a ridiculous higher standard than anyone else at junior level, but we’ve seen with some other early picks over recent years that doesn’t always translate over especially off the back of injuries.

Probably also one to watch due to her being a Crows fan before Port got gifted her and the lingering thoughts that Port will always be in Rasheed’s ear.

"Daisy's Eagles" copping an absolute pasting against Melbourne at the moment.

Melbourne have got one of the softest draws of all time for a side that only missed finals by half a game. Of the top 4 sides they only play Brisbane and they play them late in the season. Based on where the teams finished last year they play this year 12th, 11th, 18th, 7th, 6th, 13th, 17th, 8th, 5th, 15th, 4th and 10th.

The one game they have lost so far is to Port, probably the only team that finished in the 5th-8th last year that has a hope of remaining in the top 8 this year.

I'd love to play them to test out how well they are going but I feel sorry for the other sides who are realistically vying for spots in the top 8 that have a significantly harder draw. Geelong finished below Melbourne and have to play North, Crows and Hawks, 3 of the top 4 of last year. For a season that is only 12 games long, it is a massive disadvantage.

North, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne have been the top 4 big teams across the entire history of AFLW, so to not have to play North or Crows this year is a super soft draw. They could finish 2nd and only have to face North in a GF. In saying this, North are miles ahead of the competition this year and are better than they were last season, so I don't think it matters who plays them in the GF.

Was just watching a bit of the games today and it was battle of the bridge: Syd vs GWS. They had a huge 7000+ crowd. Well done to them and it was a very close match and great win by GWS. Switch to the WB vs Bris game and the ground (Whitten Oval) barely has any seating. Looks like there's hardly anyone there. Only saw a few groups of people sitting behind the goals.

I think the only reason they finished so low last year was due to injuries, i think they need to take it into consideration when they are putting the draw together.

Will have to see how they go against Brisbane, if they are not a legitimate top 4 team then they will lose their first final and then have to front us in a PF. A lot depends on the makeup of the top 4, it has been a strange season. Crows and Lions should fill out the top 4 but can't afford to drop many more games.

I still don't think it would be beyond Crows or Brisbane to beat us in a GF, I wouldn't put money on it but strange things can happen during finals, get a bit of a run, then the pressure mounts. One team taking their chances, another missing. I wouldn't raise the white flag. I still have nightmares from 1998.

Both Crows and Brisbane used to be the bogey teams for North, but North are passed that now. Gould has just gone down with injury, which is one of our most important players. North just have greater depth as well, so even when they cop an injury here and there, they have the depth to cover it. North have been unbelievable this season. I heard it was mentioned that they're playing at 68% disposal efficiency or something like that (as well as absolutely dominating possessions in game). I've watched a few North games this year because Garner is my fav player (after Chelsea Randall) and they've just been amazing to watch. They've added Sheerin and Bogue to the side. Tripodi and O'Shea have improved. Even Garner has improved, which is ridiculous because she had a huge season last year. Surprised she's never been close to winning Best and Fairest. If she doesn't win it this year, I'll be so upset. She deserves it!

Currently at 67.9% disposal efficiency, 55.7% by foot. Crows are 63.1% DE and 60.1% KE.

in terms of differential (us vs opposition) we averaging +87.3 disposals, +21.2 inside 50s +943.8m gained, +18.0 scores from stoppages and 36.8 scores from turnovers.

In case interested, Crows differential on average is +12.2 disposals, +6.4 I50s, +235.2mg, +0.4 scores from stoppages and +9.0 scores from turnovers.

I think Crows disposal is overall okay, I think we just really punish mistakes, have a really good spread in the forward line. just put sides under immense pressure early and eventually crumbles defensively.

Crows have some great forwards but not getting enough from the other forwards and probably a bit wasteful from the midfield going inside 50... too much bombing.

I don't think Garner will ever win it, she is too selfless. She got tagged by Carlton, she could have got best on ground beating the tag, but she went and shut down their best midfielder, so they were two mids down in the middle, it just allowed Riddell to rack up 44 disposals and do as she pleased. Garner still got a fair bit of the ball and kicked a goal, but she isn't going to get the 3 votes doing what she does. She doesn't care about the individual awards.

Bogue is great, she was on the list last year, we just made sure her skills were up to scratch before giving her games.

I think Port coming into the comp when it did made it a lot harder for the Crows to freshen the list up, it is a bit different now, with the salaries a bit better you can draft players from other states.

Melbourne just kept Gold Coast goalless, beating them 13.15 to 0.6. A little ominous considering we were several goals down at 3QT last week...
Crows wasted their opportunity against the worst team in the league. Even Port thrashed them. Melbourne never even looked like they were out of first gear and when Hore rested up forward in the last quarter, she had so many scoring opportunities. Melbourne missed so many gettable shots, especially early on. They were literally laughing/smiling after their missed shots because it didn't matter.

Yeah, North are most likely going to be undefeated again this year. A mile ahead of the rest of the competition.
The "fixture" is bloody weird. They finished first last year and so far have played (from last years ladder) 10th, 6th, 5th, 18th, 3rd, 14th and 8th. With 15th, 7th, 4th and 11th to come. But because of the weird form line of some teams, on this years current ladder 10th, 14th, 12th, 16th, 7th, 5th, 11th with 6th, 18th, 4th and 9th to come.

I think you may have missed Rd 12, where they play Hawthorn (2nd on last year's ladder and 3rd now).

My understanding is that the top 6 teams at the end of 2024 play all the other top 6 teams, plus four of the teams 7th-12th, and three of the bottom 6. Which, if you think about it, is pretty rough on the team that finished 6th!

Everyone’s favourite Brisbane forward at it again, and getting away with it again… 🙄

Her and Sarah Hosking really had a Grub-Off on the weekend.

Should be an easy 2-week suspension for a deliberate dangerous ponytail pull like that in AFLW.
