A few upsets this week. Westies just beat Sturt :thumbsu: , SA beat Glenelg :thumbsu: PA beat the Crows:mad:
Norwood out brown paperbagged Centrals.😂

Any news on when we're getting some players back? Form is a bit of a concern.
If by we you mean Sturt. Ash Johnson should be in line for a seniors return next week, Emmett definitely and Daikin and Burrows will likely be considered. Voss a long way off, Fahey Sparks I’m not sure of, Crowden probably mid season, I’m sure I’ve forgotten others.
In all honesty, the way we’re fumbling , can’t hit targets by hand or foot and our forward delivery is as bad as it was in 2024 then it’s not injury that is our only issue

My concern is McFayden is earning big money over here rather than playing SANFL, and players like Giacometti are happy playing 2s in the VFL
That's every SANFL club though

We maybe just haven't had talent in match the talent out this season

Though there are a few to come back

Mattner's game plan has relied in part on good footskills

When execution is a bit off we look awful, but then things click and suddenly we control the ball and teams find it difficult to put pressure on us.

There were a few games early in his first year back that were like this from memory. Scrappy, errors, turnovers. Things settled after a while.

We have to give Bass a lot of credit for what he has done there. He is a top coach at SANFL level.
yeah its a lot nicer when we have a clear gameplan and someone who knows what they're doing in charge. the big thing has just been putting on consistent pressure and today was probably the first game we've done if for all 4 quarters.

As soon as he was appointed I said he would be a good get for them

Norwood beaten for Orazio Fantasia's signature by... Adelaide Uni, who are in Div 3 this year.

Ouch

Not sure Norwood were beaten but they put some expectations on him that he didn't think he could fulfil which is fair enough at his stage of his career. Is he injured?

I haven't checked but probably!

not shocked by this at all. its a horrible match up, we dont have the size or athleticism to compete down back and through the midfield, and against an organised defence we will struggle. i think the talk of scully getting an afl gig is slightly ridiculous, seeing as he doesnt lead and relies on contested marking, which falls away as soon as he's on a decent sized defender.

while im disappointed and was hoping we were behind drubbings like this, its also a real shot back to where this side really is in the grand scheme of things that we still have a long long way to go and still have about 10 spots to upgrade really.

plus im sorry, but the sanflnow commentary has been deplorable. if you're gonna commentate and be an ex player of a club, at least try to pretend to be impartial, not groan at every free kick given, especially seeing as norwood have gotten a pretty good run with umps and holding the ball.

yeah i for one am shocked a very young and inexperienced team didnt follow up on the game against sturt with one against norwood in port lincoln with another great performance while losing their best midfielder and one of our few players to have played over 50 games. considering we've played the current top 4 in our first 6 games and 3 of them away im pretty happy with where we're at.
