If toumpas comes put this week and does the zorba after kicking a goal do you reckon everyone will go "isn't he proud of his Greek heritage that's great to see"? No, they'll say look at this idiot get on with the game of footy.
I did notice Tuohy pull out a hip flask and drown a quart of Jameson's after his goal so maybe we should cut Goodes some slack on the war ballet.

Goodes be like, "i wonder why they boo me?" then gives them a reason to get angry at him.

Your team is currently belting the opposition, the opposition fans have traveled up and are in a bad mood, why not go over there and aggravate them

I really don't see why people don't like Goodes. He is an excellent footballer, a proud Aboriginal and sometimes a little bit of douche. So what? There are many many more dickheads running around on the grounds every weekend. If we booed them all it'd be like VS the Weagles at Subi every game.

Also, having read only 2 pages of the extraordinary main board thread on the subject. It is clear to me that there is a significant portion of BF members that don't even realize that they are in fact racists.

This is a big factor. I guarantee a lot of people booing him don't think of themselves as racists.

The Goodes hate is ridiculous, IMO. He wasn't hated nearly as much until he pointed to the crowd and won AOTY. Excuse it as disliking his sliding all you like, but nobody used to boo him for it.

My opinion: he's a 358 game dual Brownlow medalist who would have been our best player of the last 50 years. Like him or dislike him, have some bloody respect.

3/5 of **** all in it. Tomahawk saluted the skies after his mum died. Goodes did a bit of a jig. It didn't incite the fans - reports from both the AFL and those at the SCG indicate that the incident involving Carlton supporters was unrelated.

Good on him for being proud of his heritage. I don't agree with his politics but that is a different argument.

Come now, I think charging at opposition fans screaming like a madman is hardly a jig. Just because they're Carlton fans and barely human doesn't mean its acceptable.

As for respect, whether he's a very good player or not is neither here nor there; if he wants respect, how about not evicting a 12 year old from the ground? How about instead of acting like a campaigner because you're being jeered, keep your head? How about not slagging off the country you were born and raised in whenever given a platform to voice your opinions? Good player, ordinary bloke. I'd have respect for him if he rose above the petty shit he chooses to indulge himself in.

I just saw this war dance thing now. Im still shaking my head honestly.

Im going to assume Adam has an IQ above 100, so, IMO you would only direct that at the Carlton Cheersquad unless:

a) You had a racist remark said to you

b) You wanted a racist remark said you

If it wasn't (a) then its got me ****** in all seriousness why in God's name you would do it unless the answer wasn't (b), you can say its Indigenous round and he was celebrating it or whatever but i can't buy that when its directed at the Carlton Cheersquad, maybe it would mean something or be understandable if he was the lone Aboriginal on the ground but he does realise Carlton have two aboriginals representing them this Indigenous round as well, yes? (Yarran and Curnow) Why wouldn't you save the dance for after the game (of an obvious win) or perhaps even do it in front of your own cheersquad as a celebration? Yes he might be passionate aboriginal but why do that to equally as passionate Carlton cheersquad? What the hell does it achieve directing it at opposition fans? Baffling…. unless of course you actually wanted a reaction?

Gun player and honestly i haven't got any real great issue with him as a person but stuff like that makes me shake my head and feeling less sympathetic to any issue he may be attempting to highlight now or be it at any other time, tonight's dance was simply like waving a pork chop in front of your dogs face (and lets face it most cheersquad members are less intelligent than Seeing-Eye Dogs) and then when he eats it you whack him over the nose with a newspaper and say "NO!" "NO!" "BAD BOY!" Honestly all it did was make me think he wanted his very own Nicky Winmar moment. (who highlighted racism in Australia so powerfully with his actions at Victoria Park that it could never be outdone or forgotten by those of us with half a brain)

Celebrate being Aboriginal, go for your life, more power to you i say but surely Adam must know that the majority of the population are idiots by now? Eduction won't help these people, they were born idiots and they will die idiots. Why even bother giving idiots any ammunition to load their gun (mouth) with to begin?

I quite liked the dance thing. Something a bit different to the normal fist pump. Different players have riled up opposition fans plenty of times in the past and haven't got into trouble. It's not as if he caused a riot. I don't get the fuss and I'm pretty sure if someone else did it, it wouldn't have been seen in the same way at all.

What did piss me off was Dermie, Eddie and the boys all condemning it straight away. The whitest of white guys including one who called him a monkey (or king Kong or whatever) trying to interpret what he was doing and judging him for it. They didn't even give themselves time to think about it. Just unanimously decried it. Dermie said something like 'it's got no place in the game. It's a dance done traditionally between two tribes who are about to kill each other'. Thanks for the education, Dermie

Hird gets $1m a year to be a pretty ordinary coach IMO (and this is not even factoring in the Dank stuff). They were better when Bomber was coach. They have a good list but play boring football and will probably miss the 8. If he wasn't Hird he'd be under the microscope.
