just as I suspected WCE are no chop, AT ALL. Sure, they'll beat us by 15 goals again, but they shouldn't be in the top 4. Lots of dumb footballers there, NicNat zero impact again.

What did Harvey do?

Missed the game

Also, surely Hird needs to start being looked at more objectively in terms of coaching ability by Essendon fans now?

Slightly off topic, but is there any other sport in the world that so poorly measures penalties
Like how hard would it be for the umpire to have a GpS watch that tells him exactly 50m instead of just guessing

The Prid gave away a free kick to him and had the ball in his hands, Harvey turned around and knocked the ball out of his hands and complained to the ump and got a 50.

AFL need to clock the dickhead with a fine for mine.
I agree.

It was a critical moment and lead straight to a North goal.

Give him a week if that's what he did. 4 points versus a fine isn't much of a deterrent. For about a month a few years ago, couldn't players get reported for staging? Or was that just Lindsay Thomas?

Interesting to see how the umpires assoc. deals with this one. Anything less than calling it a total balls up is just reinforcing the fact that half of what the umpires are calling is just guess work. He wasn't even looking at the play/had no view of it to be able to call that a 50. Justifying it as a legit decision in any way just shows the public that these guys are out there to do whatever they feel like.

The umpire got it wrong, but blame lies with Harvey.

It was akin to a player diving in a soccer game, and then appealing to the ref for a penalty.

How can we give the umpires a hard time when players behave like that?

Because the reward of getting a penalty usually beats the risk of getting booked for diving, or in AFL circles, nothing? Nothing wrong with telling a player you didn't see the incident. Boomer may be a campaigner, but the umpire made the call. His own fault.

Exactly, isn't that the excuse the umps use when they don't pay a free? "Can't pay it mate, I didn't see it" Clearly could not have seen what happened in the Harvey/Priddis incident. Why pay it? I would like to see someone admit fault here.

Surely the reigning best and FAIREST gets some benefit of the doubt? No, umps just want to make some big calls and feel like they are in the game. They love paying 50s. Umpires are pulling shit out of thin air. I'm close to walking away from this game, the officiating is terrible and it's only getting worse.

I couldn't disagree more with you on this one sorry Cannon82.

The AFL should impose heavier penalties for guys who play for frees and duck their head etc, but it's not as prevelant in footy as say, diving in soccer.

If a player fakes or feigns an incident and deliberately sets about to trick the umpire, then the onus should be on the player to change that behaviour.

Umpires will make mistakes, they always have and always will, but I have little time for people who constantly blame umpires and abuse umpires.

If you watch the incident closely, Harvey makes it look as though Priddis flicked the ball away - and then he turned to the umpire and asked for a 50 metre penalty.

The umpire got it wrong, but I can definitely see why he thought it looked like Priddis threw the ball down.

So your saying, umpire didn't see Priddis infringe, Harvey asks for a free, so let's pay it?

Jokes aside, I get you.

I can handle us being shit man, I think we are all used to that by now. But the umpiring is taking away the enjoyment from non Dees games. It's just a circus out there atm and the game looks amateur.

In ice hockey you can get a penalty called against you for simulation, I'd like to see something similar in the afl

I'd like the video ref to hammer simulation into next week.

You might fool the on-field umpire, but you should get weeks once they can go thru the tape.
