Probably the worst free kick given I've ever seen. Other shockers or ones of conjecture can be forgiven because of interpretations or a player just sucking an umpire in. Im yet to even see a deliberate out of bounds come close to this.

Throws the ball straight back to the ump with a bloke lying on top of him too hard. What a complete load of shit.
When respecting the umpires becomes more important than the game...

It's like the bump rule. If you choose to do it, you run the risk of being suspended. It's a deterrent.
Still a stupid rule. Too many variables at play. Getting towards 'if someone gets injured (or even not in this case), you're gone' territory. Why is it only the head that is protected? If I sling someone to the ground and cause them to pop their shoulder out, it's ok, as long as they don't hit their head?

Understand about concussion etc, but surely there are other long term impacts that are worth considering then? I know I did my knee playing footy and 10 years later continue to have a host of niggles that chip away. Perennially tight hamstrings, which lead to lower back pain, which lead to upper back pain, not to mention the knee itself etc.

Just saying (again, have said it many times), it is a pandora's box taking injuries into account too much. WAY too many variables at play.

It's about what you can control. The sling has a much higher chance to cause concussion than other tackles. Of course there is always risk but you can limit that risk. I haven't seen a sling tackle lead to another injury so I can't comment in that respect.

Wasn't it the sling that did Gabby Abbler God Jnr's shoulder in?

Gibbs deserved everything he got. Over the last couple of seasons the sling tackle with pinned arms has become more and more prevalent. There's no place for it. Who wants to see the best players get head hunted and taken out of the game through deliberate acts? It's only one up from sniping. Your deliberately trying to take out a defenceless player. Anyone who thinks it isn't deliberate has never played senior football.
Imagine if it was Brayshaw or Hogan on the receiving end. I would be livid.
I agree that they are adjudicating it on outcome at the moment which is the definition of inconsistency, but by suspending someone it's going to stop the trend and that is only a good thing.

Only just witnessed the footage now. Worst free kick I have ever seen. Really, how hard can a guy throw the footy with another man on his back? **** this game is ridiculous sometimes.

I love how Hayden Kennedy says, and i quote: 'I know it doesn't look terribly hard off the slow mo vision'

Lmao, It wasn't even in slow mo you ******* idiot, the throw back to the umpire you see from Rance on both bits of footage is in real time speed.

Community standards to uphold, so now you know, dont return the ball to the umpire, just drop it on the ground in front of you and make him pick it up. *******.

Yep. Exactly what I'm saying. That's actually a perfect case of this 'rule' falling down completely. Almost exactly the same action, with a pretty bad consequence totally unpunished. What if Ablett has recurring injuries now and associated problems the rest of his life? Is that better or worse than a concussion? What if he's had less concussions to this point and therefore if he was concussed, would be less likely to affect him down the track?

I get the 'control what we can control argument but it's not difficult to see that taking this stuff into account is completely fraught with complexity. Only a tiny bit of it is being taken into account as the rules stand. Only a matter of time that they are taken into account. Which leads to the scenario of if someone gets injured, someone does time.

Again, no one seems to be able to answer what rule was broken in that tackle? I still don't know what rule was broken with the trengove one either

Lawl... even Dawes might have kicked that. Jesse White clearly someone you want with the ball in their hands in the dying moments with the game on the line.
At least he looked stylish as pushed across his fringe while saying **** with his lady sleeve arm after the miss.

Freo playing pretty ordinary ATM (oh how it must be nice to play ordinary and win), have the last 3 games. Maybe they are on one those 'heavy training loads' who knows, but they dont look like the same team that they were earlier in the year.

Who has the worst club song in the AFL?

Clearly its one of the WA songs, Freo or WCE, both ******* putrid. WCE slightly worse for mine.
"Big birds, kings of the big game" Are some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard.

Eagles. Seriously watch the players sing it.

One thing the AFL did right with the expansion clubs was give them proper songs, none of this Freo/WCE shit.
