Port beat Hawthorn the same way every team has in the past few years by relentlessly spoiling marks and not allowing any uncontested marks. They killed them in almost every other aspect but I recon this has always been the most crucial thing to do to them.

It was funny watching Smith, Breust, Gunston and Puopolo skirt around the fringes trying to soccer it and tap it to advantage without any of them going for the ball. The Hodge grandpa moment were great as well. Really loving their demise and lack of first round pick situation.

And channel 7 would agree with you 100% on that and I'm guessing most of the footy public. I'm probably on my own but I reckon there would be a few in my camp that get sick of seeing the same old teams battle it out time and time again. It's like every Friday night channel seven running a different Bruce Willis movie when just for once you'd like to see a Denzel flick or a crazy Japanese revenge thriller. The game of AFL is big enough and diverse enough to sell itself. All teams have guns and every team save for Brisbane is capable of pulling off an enthralling victory on their day. Just tired of Bruce continually pumping up the over inflated tyres of the same poster boy players
^^^^^^ This. Yes.

BT "Laird has some grazes on his head and shoulder"

*Show replay of him being tackled into the paint of the 50m line*

"thats where the grazes came from in that tackle"

And I thought Bruce's constant rhetorical questions were going to be the most annoying thing of the evening

What about a Geelong victory?

I was giving that a qrt to sink in.

If Selwood doesn't have a concussion after that hit, he must be the dumbest bloke in the league, because there can't be much of a brain in there.
He probably is the dumbest block in the AFL, but his teammate playing his 200th has captured the look though

Geelong are the biggest pretenders carrying over form last year (Although Richmond's rise has helped), but yet they're constantly allowed to have their way with oppo teams! FFS Adelaide! Please do something for the rest of the competition! Stop ******* taking it and stand up!

Geelong play KP really well but they get exposed on the MCG with their slow one paced team.

If we can fix our own MCG woes god I'd love to play them in a final.

Is there any other team that trains the whole year on their home game? West Coast do most of the time I think? The Suns do and we'll probably see this weekend if they're making the most of it ... but anyway, my point is that its such a massive advantage to have a true home ground like they do ... looking forward to them playing somewhere else and stinking it up again.

Sydney are like Brisbane in that they'd train there once the season starts, but not the preseason while cricket is on. Adelaide same with cricket, but I think they train at Footy Park still, GWS definitely don't either

**** you Geelong. Selwood ducks into another tackle, gets a free kick and dickheads like Hawkins "fly the flag" ... so much rage!

I'm a bit unclear on the rules obviously. Why is not not a free kick to Crouch, when Hawkins punches him in his jaw? Isn't that just a straight up free kick? It was in the 70s.

Umpire was looking at Crouch's back ... it wasn't high enough on the jaw to differentiate it from one in the chest, would have just looked like Crouch took a dive
