Why not? I don't think it's difficult to not punch someone in the face when you've been told it's going to lead to suspensions
He grabbed his jumper and pushed him in the neck. Show that to a boxer and call it a punch and see them piss themselves with laughter

Imagine if he got ruled out of a grandfinal for that. What a joke.

I've always thought punching was stupid, if you're angry at the bloke just smash him in the next contest

Stupid is fine. It doesn't achieve anything but it should be a free kick and maybe a 50. Not missing a match. Selwood goes back with the flight and loses half his head then crouch gets a push to the jaw and goes down like a gun shot. The more you punish soft acts the more players will start taking advantage of them and diving for free kicks and getting players suspended.
Would you be happy for Jack Viney to miss a final for what he did to Rance last year after he clubbed watts?

The argument on whether the rule should or should not have been changed is a separate one IMO.
The rule WAS changed so to then go out and ignore it shows a fair amount of stupidity or lack of comprehension and should be punished.
Personally I don't think the rule should be changed mid year but it was so he 100% deserves the suspension.
It's actually a really simple call tbh.

Have to disagree on this one; there's not a lot in it, but it's a punch to the jaw. Imagine for a second that Porkins doesn't also have hold of the guy's jumper at the same time, and he's gone every day of the week. Why should it be treated any different just because he also has a portion of jumper in the fist?

That was probably his reasoning.

"Pull out Porkins, you can't jumper punch now!"
"I CAN HOLD IT!"

Have heard quite a lot of Adam Treloar on SEN lately and just heard another snippet then which has motivated me to come here and say that I can't actually think of a more simple bloke attempting to sound clever.
He actually makes me sick when listening to.
The way he fumbles around his responses in an attempt to sound smart by including irrelevant and semi intelligent words is horrific.
Good footballer but that's it.
Too many eggish current and ex footballers trying to make a go of it in the media and it's crap.
If you battle to talk, get off the radio.

If you're dumb enough to pull that shit in a final you deserve to miss.

If you want to push someone away an open-handed shove to the chest without grabbing the jumper is what you would do (exactly what Viney did to Rance last year). How dumb do you have to be to throw a jumper punch especially now.

Pretty much this.
At what point to we actually blame/question the goose who breaks the clearly set rule?

Calling it a punch doesnt really do punching justice. If Crouch had stood his ground like a man and not collapsed it never would have happened. In fact if the media didnt highlight it and replay it 100x no one would have had an issue with it just like in the previous 150 years of footy
