Yep, incredible year.
The Hawks (who I don't think will go anywhere near playing finals this year) are currently 17th - 2 games (+ percentage) behind 5th!!
Yeah exactly, and it makes percentage so important as well, and why I'm glad ours is pretty good.

Just looking ahead to next week already ... Kennedy was apparently nowhere near being available to be picked this week ... he'll obviously have 9 days more recovery ... but at this point he'd have to be only 50/50 to be playing us in two weeks time.

Never thought he'd be playing against us, 3 weeks is awfully short for a calf injury.

Yeah neither, as someone who has done a LOT of calf injuries, his whole situation didn't match up. He couldn't walk after it, and was on crutches a few days later, that's on the severe end, yet they think 3 weeks? Even Simpson said today it was a significant calf injury, they aren't 3 weeker's ... they're closer to 8. Time will tell I suppose.

Barrett reporting that if O'Meara has another setback it could be the end of him.
Surely that would be only if O'Meara decided to pull the pin. Or if by 'another setback' we're talking about his leg falling off.

Hawks have invested far too much in him to give up on him after 12 weeks.

Hmmm, interesting.

My understanding of knees (which is pretty good...) is that if he's struggling now and it actually isn't related to his previous injury (well, obviously it is - just not the patella tendon) and there is no structural issue, it's likely cartilage damage - which won't heal and becomes arthritis.

However, that shouldn't be career ending and for a professional athlete should be very manageable - although his knee will be ruined when he finishes.

Other alternative is that there is something structural going on.

Or, he doesn't want to ruin his knees - but that would be pretty surprising for a professional athlete.

The sounds of it was that the medical advice would be for him to retire if it continues. It's tendonitis, which is an overuse thing - there's no getting away from it unfortunately.

Honestly, it sounds like Damo is making a big deal out of nothing ... or Hawthorn are blatantly lying.
Neither would surprise me.

But that's the monster risk with that trade. If he's no good because of his knees, they gave up an absolute fortune to get a literal basket case. Up there with the Stephen O'Reilly trade for terrible deals.

Yeah, will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'd be stunned if he retired unless it was something serious.

Arthritis is serious, but at his age you couldn't ask for a better place than a sporting club to manage it - you have any gym equipment you need, highly qualified doctors, physio's and trainers, quality rehab facilities and access to all the best drugs to help!

Yeah I thought the same.
Went down like he was shot so I can't believe he was even considered this week.
Time will tell but I wouldn't be surprised if they're just playing games.
Really hope he still misses against us.

It'll be a prime opportunity for Jack Darling to join the Kent Kingsley Memorial Society if Kennedy does miss.

WC v Geelong is on tonight. Would be nice for the Eagles to lose for obvious reasons. Although I do have a funny feeling the Eagles might be able to get the win tonight, I'm not brave enough to tip them.

Our game against them next week is so important. Would be nice to win the last game we will ever play at Subi since we haven't won there since 2004 and against the Eagles there back in 2002.

I hate Geelong too but want them to win tonight.
I want West Coast to win ... the bulk of their issues aren't at home, so I'd prefer them going into next week feeling confident/complacent of just ticking off another home win rather than staring down the barrel of their 5th straight loss, and 3rd straight at home.

Think I tipped the cats. The total absence of key forwards on anyone's part will make life interesting though.
Yeah it certainly makes things interesting. WC are probably more reliant on Kennedy and need him more than Geelong need Hawkins. Geelong should get the job done I would think.
