I'm glad so few people turned up to that game ... they'd have a cause to ask for their money back, what a stinker.

Massive missed opportunity for St Kilda to only win by 17 points when they're in need of as much percentage as they can get.

Saints are done afaic. They're behind far too many teams at this point. Would have Collingwood, Essendon, Sydney, Dogs, Eagles, and Us ahead of them for teams going for those bottom parts of the 8.

In principle I think this sort of match up (North Saints) on a Friday night is a refreshing change from the usual teams but 26,107 is pathetic. It also perpetuates the attitude out there that the smaller clubs should get these games sparingly.

North did themselves no favours at all tonight but other clubs like Melbourne unfairly get thrown in the same basket.

Our test is the Swans game in a few weeks. Let's see if we can crack 40k, that'd be an awesome result.

Disagree. You can't effect cultural change overnight. You have to choose a course of action and stick to it for long enough for it to have the desired effect. When Triple J went from 5% Australian music to 40%, the quality of the 35% new stuff was TERRIBLE. There hadn't been much demand for good Aussie music, therefore there wasn't much supply. A few years later, the quality had improved heaps and now Australian music is in excellent shape.

The AFL should be trying to achieve parity for all clubs. Parity in performance (currently you'd have to say they're doing a great job of that) and parity in exposure. Give the lower ranked teams (us included) more exposure, and over time you'll see the number of fans of those clubs increase, thus solving the problem of low crowd numbers to their games.

The AFL should absolutely 100% perservere with clubs like North and Saints on Friday nights. In the long term, it'll make for a better, more vibrant competition.

I like the idea of the AFL mixing it up with other teams and it should continue. I understand your point but 26k is still pathetic between two Vic teams on a Friday night in any scenario IMO. I think North's poor year was probably a bigger factor though.

The catch is North.

North supporters don t show up. Their membership has dropped by 6000 simply because they aren't 9-0 this year.

Melbourne v North on a Sunday arvo, replacement game for North: 33k
North v St Kilda, Friday night, 26k
North v GC, Saturday night, 15k
Carlton v North, Sunday arvo, 32k

It's the unspoken issue since JB threw everything into keeping them in Victoria. They aren't sustainable. Despite our shit we still kept 33-35k in members and people kept showing up...for a DECADE. North have played in two prelims in the last 5 years and were a finalist last year...and the bandwagon is already off.

If they go through some serious hurt a la Melbourne or Brisbane they'll be dead in the water.

Why the hell was buddy reported? It was a bump to the side lol jeez footy is soft now
Because it smashed Menadue and put him on the ground. Big bloke runs over small bloke and hurts him in the initial. I get the report, but it'll get thrown out.
