"7 a side and 3 on the bench"

Will every team just fill it with rookie players and a few delistees? why would any club put their stars in it.

I can see AFLX lasting about 2 or 3 seasons, with a rapid decrease in interest each year, in line with the rapid decrease in quality when teams offer up worse and worse quality players.

Rather than SOO, I'd like to see just an All-Star weekend. Pick 2 Captains, and they do a school yard pick from the remaining 10 teams. Wouldn't be a true all star game with none of the finals players being available, but would still be a really good game.

In my case the only thing that made it come good was exercise, particularly core stuff. Sorry about that.
Yep. My back finally went after uni - hunching over desks and bad lecture theater chairs all day), then riding a bike home with laptop, clothes in the bag + sitting at work when not studying. Back pain started in my lower back. Heaps of physio, remedial massage and pilates got rid of that. Back pain actually travelled north and stopped just under the right shoulder blade.

I did pilates once a week for year, and supplemented that with at home stuff every 2nd day with core stuff. Got it under control now. Learned heaps about pain, different types of pain, posture awareness your body and how it all works but it is something that still needs to be managed. Also, and probably one of the most important things, is to get a standing desk at work, with a higher chair you can sorta lean on. Once I did at my work, I copped a bit for it for some reason, but now i look around and I see probably 15 of them when 3 years ago there were none. Can't believe it isn't more tbh, with how many people experience back pain.

Good luck with it though, PG.

Got my sciatica bricklaying. Put up with it flaring up for years then finally took up boxing and did a bunch of core stuff in the home gym and got rid of it. Desk bound now so I'm probably not far off it coming back. Might join the work gym.

Ah that's no good mate.

It is amazing how much increasing your core strength helps. Like you go through your life not really thinking about it until sitting down or lying down is painful. I don't miss the nights spent awake trying to find a position to sleep in that didnt have my back burning with pain. Even keeping the water up during the day tangibly helps my back

AFL X sounds like the lamest thing ever conceived. Maybe it has been sitting in a folder buried in some out of the way filing cabinet for the past 18 years and was initially intended as a successor to SOO? I only think that because of the garish, 90's name (yeah! Put an X on the end! Radical, dude! That's what kids are about these days, right?) and the dumb as dogshit marketing spiel to go with it: 'A high octane, fast-paced version of AFL!'because apparently that's what you get playing on a smaller field, with less players, in shorter quarters. Isn't that basically what AFL9s is but with contact? Hardly 'high octane' stuff in any of the 9s games I've seen.

Gah this is just so bad! Footy's big bash? Piss that off! I don't need games shorter, with even more contrived bullshit shoved in between the tiniest break of play in order to add to the 'fan experience'. Just **** that shit right off. This season already is fast-paced, unpredictable and fun, importantly. With the evenness of teams this season and all the surprise results it has thrown up so far it has been so much more enjoyable than this 2nd-year-Bachelor-of-Marketing-at-University-of-the-Sunshine-Coast-via-distance-group-project-pile-of-shit concept ever could be.

All star is a terrible concept that works in America because in basketball there is 0 defence and all party tricks. An andll star game would be so uncontested and who do you support? At least with SOO you have state allegiance. All star would suck.

I'm not against an All-Star game. Could do East vs West? I.e. NSW/Queensland/Victoria/Tasmania vs NT/WA/SA. Yeah it wouldn't have the same rivalry as a SOO but as a novelty, one off game at the end of the year I don't think anyone will take it too seriously and if the games turn out like the Dream Team v Vic one of 2008 that would be a great result. That was a really fun game to watch, even though there was nothing really riding on it. One obvious issue would be 95% of the 'East' team would be Vics but otherwise I think it could work.

In any case it'd be infinitely better than whatever the hell AFLX is supposed to be.

Who do I want to win tonight? I'm not sure. Sydney on general instincts maybe? Which is better for us strategically?
It's difficult now isn't it. When we were going to hell in a handbasket I could generally just barrack with my heart for the other 7/8 games of the weekend. Now I need to pay attention and stuff.

Even so, Swans. Swans for sure. Although if we were to make it to September I would love to play Essendon in a final. Would be yuge!
