MFC Fans Only Non Dees AFL thread 2019 edition- Thank god its over. Tylenol NOW!

Eh, I wouldn't read too much into the Bombers resurgence of late. They're flakey and have played equally flakey sides lately and have scraped past a couple. Their run looks great when it's on but when it's not they have nothing else.

I agree we need to add more outside blokes to our team, but more to add balance given everyone we have is an inside scrapper. Essendon I think are too far the other way; great when they feel like it/get their heads up, but falls apart like Bailey ball against a team with a solid defence.

Would've liked Baker being given another run over either Wagner.
The Bombers are a coin flip sort of team. Where we've gone too inside, they've gone too outside. Their fans know it too, but it's easier to ignore when you're winning games, partially because they have more dash in the last quarter. Neither of our lists are built for Flags just yet, both will need tweaking.

Saad was originally a rookie pick. Tells me that our drafting and development is absolute ******* rubbish. Watch Dunkley go backwards from here on out once our staff have gotten into him. Jarrod Cameron was averaging 9 touches and a goal in the WAFL yet gets a game with the premiers and is killing it. Bedford would be averaging about that i reckon
And yet this time last year everyone was singing Taylor's praises. When Roos and Stone were developing our young guys, we thought JT was the best recruiter in the game. He's also not had a first rounder for four years. His only real bust with a decent pick looks like it'll be Spargo in terms of long-term viability. Weid is clearly a mercurial talent with a good head on his shoulders, but the coaches aren't helping him put it together in a down team. Fritta was such a natural footballer, but has been given way too many roles and instructions. Guys like ANB, Stretch, Baker, Vanders, Oscar McDonald, Lockhart have all shown bags of talent at AFL level, but Goodwin and co. can't extract it consistently hence why they're dropped and returned and dropped and returned. They're not Weetra/Fitzpatrick/Cook types that just didn't have it. Sure, he's had a few like Hulett and C.Wagner that clearly aren't up to it - but they were late punts.

Imagine if Goodwin dropped the mental gymnastics and rotated Viney/Gus/Oliver through the middle with Harmes tagging the oppositions best mid every week. May at full back, Frost at CHB, Lever and Hore intercepting, Hibberd ranging off HB. Preuss resting at FF, Hannan at his feet, ANB gut running, Salem and Fritsch up and down opposite wings with Salem resting back and Fritsch resting forward.

Just ******* imagine.

Dermott: "A bit slow here Will Brodie, took a second and a half too long for that kick".

Brodie hits Harbrow, Harbrow hits King

Dermott: "Bit more methodical now hey Roosy!"

Glory be.

Thats my point rubbish football club, rubbish development, rubbish game plan. Cannon always goes on about Garlett not deserving a game or Bedford yet under his idea of what deserves a game Cameron would never have gotten a game with ave 9 touches 1 goal a game. If ya small forwards are working hard it shouldnt matter how many touches they get cause theyll end up filling their boots. We are playing the perfect statue at ff to play a few small forwards. Hopefully Wagner plays at his feet instead of between the arcs. Its ok i already know Bedford will get his first game under the pump against the best small defender get dropped and never be seen again its the melbourne way

Hey, good stuff. Let's give games to people who try hard. Where's James Magner gone?

Bedford is a small forward every small forward needs to work hard pressure wise its the hardest position to bloody play and get reward for effort. Magner had Jamar hitting it to him and did alright and maybe if we had a Magner now instead of lazy campaigners who think talent is enough we might be in a better position.

If you wanted a bunch of low-talent hacks who tried hard, look no further than our sides from 5 to 10 years ago. Much rather have talent on the park with a coaching regime who can motivate players to get the best of themselves.

Tom Morris on Fox Footy said specialists in Melbourne have serious concerns over Hogan's foot. Potentially an Egan scenario. I guess Tom Morris would say that though.

Grouse. Shipped him off for an A grade full back who knows how to pummel campaigners. Exquisite timing.

My ~INSIDE INFO~ was the Dees had a suspicion his foot was ****ed, so we gave him a couple of pingers and a ticket to Perth. And copped a ROUND 1 DRAFT PICK back, how good is that?!?!?

Sounds like a dream

And here we are in the same position as that time you speak of. Id actually rather watch players try hard than have no idea what they are doing or refuse to run the other way. I know which period im gonna be more pissed about if we get nothing from the next 5 years

Yep, presumably you'd be more annoyed about doing s**t when we've actually got good players at the club and we don't have a coaching structure that can get the best out of them or implement a decent game plan.

We’re officially at end of days if we’re nostalgically calling for James Magner to come back.

Google "sarcasm", you'll be amazed at what you discover.
