The umpiring has been far worse in other matches compared to this one.

Commentary is unbearable (but that's pretty much a given in any game nowadays anyway).

My biggest issue however is with another absolutely horrible display of defending in what is meant to be the top level of the game.

I can't recall St Kilda sticking a single tackle that entire half and almost every single goal for the Tigers was due to a Saints player lagging off his marker.

15th on the ladder and going backwards - can't see how Richardson keeps his job next season after this.

AFL: "We're worried about the state of the game. Modern tactics result in an unattractive brand of footy and television ratings are suffering accordingly.

Also the AFL: "We're going to gift Friday night games to Carlton, St Kilda and the Dogs."

It's an election year in Victoria - that these matches are in prime time is not a coincidence.

All the important issues. Health, education, and maintaining a lopsided national football competition with ten Victorian sides.

I know you are being sarcastic but you only have to look the shonky MCG deal to see how intertwined AFL and the Victorian government are. Why would the Victorian government throw in hundreds of millions of $$$ in bribes to make the deal go through?

Opiate of the masses indeed.

Sick of the fapping that occurs whenever these dipshits get on the field. Theyve lost every interstate game and yet every commentator fawns over them whenever they have the chance...
Meh, hopefully they drink the bathwater and end up completely shocked when the Eagles smash them at the G on GF day. On exposed form Eagles are clearly the form team of the comp. Consistently win at home as well as away, have survived several injury crises affecting midfield and then forwards. Heaven help the Tiges if one of Rance, Martin, Cotching or Reiwoldt go down for finals. Guys like costanga and short will be revealed to be the B/C role players that they are.

**** zones, just stop putting Carlton and St Kilda on prime time every ******* week.
This is exactly what infuriates me about the "state of the game" BS. In 2016 and 2017 they were celebrating how even the comp was. This year they suddenly hate everything because the ratings slid as they f****d up the fixtures.

Gil came out today and said rule changes are happening next year whether you like it or not and they won't bother trialling them first. The ridiculous thing is that if they just made sure that Friday night games featured mostly the top 8 teams from last year, then the ratings would be fine, as they would mostly be good contests between good teams. Eagles finished 6th last year (after finals) and have 1 fri night game for the season. Why the hell are Carlton, St Kilda and bulldogs even on one Friday fixture, yet alone several each?

The sad (or hillarious) thing is, the rule changes will drastically alter the game and will probably turn a lot of people off football. I can see a massive about-face and apology happening mid season when the fans abandon the game. Hopefully it results in Gil resigning and a clean out of the AFL exec.

Straight from his manager - Mitch McGovern was happy to come back to WA to play for Freo last year, but refused to do so while Ross Lyon was coach
Makes sense, the McGovern Clan aren't the most conditioned lot. Ross Lyon would have a field day on those budding breasts.
