Martin and Ah Chee would be very good 'cream' players if the Suns were able to keep their nucleus together.

Garlett couldn't be helped due to the illness with his brother.
When your club is in its infancy and in a volatile state for footy you can’t just assume that small core will stay stable. Look at the inside mids that GWS has lost already: Treloar, Adams, Tyson, Miles, Townsend, Steele, Kennedy...

It was naive to spend so much on cream players until your squad has settled, and I would be pissed if I was one of the handful of GC supporters.

Fair enough 2012 was a pissweak draft so maybe they thought pick 2 for Martin was a decent gamble.

Ah Chee was taken with pick #8: Daniel Rioli, Charlie Curnow, Wayne Milera all went within the next 7 picks. In terms of a different 'type', Weidemann, McKay, Doedee, Gresham and Burton all went before their next pick who was Fiorini.

Martin traded for pick #2: O'Rourke was taken with this pick. Macrae and Wines both went top ten that year (and Daniher who was F/S).

Garlett pick #15: Lukas Webb and Kyle Langford probably the best players taken between this and their next pick at #29 who was Touk Miller.
Yeah 2012 draft was shithouse in retrospect and maybe that’s why we traded for Sharrod and GC traded for Martin.

Still, at that stage of its existence I’d rather my club loaded up on KPP and inside grunts than speculative skinny flankers

Brisbane by comparison are much better off in that respect. Some very good KPP and genuine mid prospects.

Except I’m not sure whether Hipwood will ever be proportioned enough to live up to the hype. They really need to hold onto Luggage and Berry.
There's also Andrews, Gardiner and the probable number one pick Jack Lukosius.

If they can draft Berry's brother this year that may go some way toward helping keep him there. Rayner is the other one they need to focus on as I could see him being a late bloomer and becoming a gun mid at 25+.

Well Shitmantle have been crapola for the last 2 and a bit years so they deserve nothing. West Coast on the other hand deserve a few Friday nights against the likes of Collingwood or Essendon etc. The other thing about Shitmantle they cant draw a crowd considering they tell everyone they have 50k supporters where are they on game day
Could say the same about your 65k membership plus 'in the wings'. Why haven't you sold out Optus yet? Last home game you gave out thousands of free seats.

I just think it’s so hard to develop a healthy culture at Brisbane these days with everyone leaving, like guys such as Yeo, Docherty, Redden, Aish, Schache etc. I don’t enjoy it because I loved watching Brisbane sticking it to the Vics with the 3peat and they’re probably my third club behind the Crows but it’s just so hard to try and see the light at the end of the tunnel with that club.

Because of the ticketing arrangements with the state government. This was well publicised by the club..

Even so, our average home crowd is 53k so far this year v 46k for the purples.

Does that include the 30k that went to the Gold Coast game?

Richmond are the stand-out team this year. I genuinely thought they'd slide.
If the Bullies hadn't done their thing last year I would have put the house on a Richmond slide. I reckon it's a cert Dimma has used the abject example of the doggies to keep his group up and about.

Well at this stage of the year consistency sets you apart. Richmond probably struck a year earlier than they might have thought given their 2016. They’d have a lot of belief in their ability to improve given their ladder position last season.
