Wasn’t sure where to put this. So there’s an article on the AFl site about the greatest NSW team, and there’s a picture of Daniher holding the cup, from 1985, but the cup looks weird as!! Is this a real photo??

Just a ****ed angle I would say

Massive call if serious. Currently have Richmond, us, Essendon, Hawthorn and Melbourne of the supposed better sides who are out of the 8. 10th place is 3 games in front of Sydney with the sides mentioned above trying to get in. I would just about put my house on them not making it. Will deleting my account suffice if they do ?
Not serious, but after 2017 I am inclined to wait for them to be 10 losses before ruling them out. They never die.

I approve this message. It was supposed to be impossible to make the finals starting 0-4, so they went 0-6 and still made it.

This year they started 1-3 so I'm still very suspicious of them.

North Melbourne v Geelong at Marvel Stadium, 1.10pm AEST

GEELONG

In: J.Selwood, D.Fort, Z.Tuohy, J.Parsons, C.Constable
Out: Z.Guthrie

North are in for a very rude shock after beating up on an injury-ravaged Carlton.

So the footy show has finally been axed. Went from watching every week back in the day to slowly losing interest as the social media broke the stories. Final straw was Eddie gleefully reporting on the new MCG grand final contract. Never watched again after that. Like to think they lost many more viewers that night.

I’ll preface all of this by saying I have attended a Footy Show live episode, when I went to the ‘08 Grand Final because it came with the package.

I’m not entirely sure what any network would think the audience for the Footy Show is anymore.

Footy fans have far better dedicated football content, the market is more crowded than ever there. The comedy sports show market is filling up fast. Hardcore footy fans surely couldn’t be satisfied with the Footy Show ‘analysis’. Social media breaks all the news, team lineups are available instantly.

Is it just for some vague stereotypical ‘blokey bloke’ audience to have on in the background?

Say what you want about Sam Newman but the guy made that show.

He was the only reason to watch.

Over the last 5 years I have also gone from watching every week to now n then to couple times a year to never with the new crap people (just looks unfunny)

Must say the last 2-3 years I hardly watch any footy shows mainly due to the fact they never give non-vic teams much air time.

Hard disagree. If you earn the right to a HOME final, you deserve to play it at your HOME ground.

What do you reckon the Giants would say about playing a home final at the SCG?

That's fine but if Geelong wants the same benefits of interstate teams they can't have the benefits of being a Victorian team. Let them play home finals in Geelong but don't give them 6-8 games at the MCG a year. They can have 1-2 games at the MCG every year like all interstate teams do. The MCG on grand final day should be a disadvantage to them like it is all interstate teams if they want to have the advantage of GMHBA

Playing 6-8 games at the MCG isn't their choice. If you ask Cats fans they would prefer all their games in Geelong.

Speaking of the MCG

What a crock of shit. Who benefits from that? Not Adelaide and Port fans. Not the general notion of ‘footy fans’. What a pathetic take that is - there’s finally something interstate we care about so bring it here. Jesus.

Geelong also do get financial benefits to playing in Melbourne against other vic clubs through the home and away season.

So I think the AFL would be bemused when they are happy to claim the extra funds mid year to do that but then insist on finals at their home ground.

But they should have every right to say where they play a home final. Not the AFL.

Heck, in that final against the tigers back in 2017, Geelong called the toss as the “away” side. It’s just ridiculous.

AFL takes all Gate revenue for finals hence wanting to play them at bigger grounds. It’s also always been the case that it’s played in the home state, not home ground. I personally don’t care either way but as someone else mentioned before for fairness sake they need to play all finals games for Geelong at the one venue, regardless of opposition.

I'm sure fans would but if you ask the people within the club I'm sure they wouldn't. Not only are the getting an unfair access to home of the grand final but there is huge financial incentive for them to play big Melbourne teams at the G

I don't think Geelong can keep this form up all year. They'll finish 4th or 5th IMO
They’re driven by role players, but have the superstars to get them out of trouble if they need to. It’s a different mix for them now. I’m expecting top 2, but then a bundle out of finals by prelim week.

Rohan to the forward line means they get the forward impact that Dangerfield used to bring. (plus a stackload more defensive pressure). Kelly now being a top line mid means they can use Dangerfield for the key contests and ease Selwood through the year. So late in contests, when the opposition is tiring; they bring out the big guns to win those key moments.

They are still very vulnerable when Dangerfield is not effective.

That's not the premiership cup. You can just make out the writing at the top. It says ???***** Trophy.
