Time to roll this thread over into the 2025 version

So with that in mind, how about some predictions for the upcoming season which shapes to another very competitive year - no clear premiership favourite imo and 15 teams with legitimate aspirations for a top 8 finish. (Unfortunately we’re one of the three that don’t have those aspirations along with North and Richmond)

Premier - GWS
Runner up - Brisbane
Top 8 -
Brisbane
GWS
Carlton
Fremantle
Sydney
Gold Coast
Port Adelaide
Geelong

Hawthorn - 9th

Bottom 4 -
West Coast
Essendon
North Melbourne
Richmond

Brownlow - Caleb Serong
Coleman - Jeremy Cameron
Eagles wins and ladder position - 8 wins/15th
Eagles B&F - Liam Baker

Just when you think it couldn't get any worse at Essendon.

David Barham unleashed an expletive-ridden tirade at premiership hero Ted Fordham

3 years of leading transformational change, guess he didn't say it was going to be a good change. They've gone backwards from a shit starting point.

Think they are seriously the worst positioned club in the league. Would take every other clubs list over theirs.

So Fordham is a "just kick it long down the line" type of guy commenting on coaching styles 60 years after he won his premiership.
Barham just seems more unhinged the more I hear and see him. "I can earn $2,000 a day in private enterprise instead of being president of a ****ing football club". Good to know his hearts in it and he's locked in and intentional about the Bombers getting better.

Mate...he could earn $2k a day. Out of the goodness of his heart he is doing this and this is the thanks he gets.

That was my exact impression of Fordham. A man of a particular vintage that grew up playing and following a game that is vastly different to what we have now.

Obviously they have a familiar relationship though, so Barham probably lets his guard down and is a little more honest with him than he would be to an average punter or a journo. Whatever.

It's still a funny lil development.

Fordham certainly has an eye for coaches though. He wasn't wrong that Essnedon passing it around the back when they were down was diabolical. Wasn't the only one that called that out.

Brad Scott is the biggest fraud going around. Only two seasons where he's won a final

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, i'm not a Brad Scott fan as coach. Just that his analysis may be a bit light on. And once the players went long inboard or down the line and the inevitable turn over happened would have also chimed in "no...not there".

Lol - President is not a full time job. Most (if not all of our) Chairs have usually been running companies full time.

La di da at the highest rollers in this thread that wipe their arse with $2k per day.
I'm not a consultant but $2k for a consultant isn't $2k in the hand, there's taxes ~50%, there's other costs around insurances, super contributions, no sick leave, no holiday leave, no pay if go a period without work. That's all if you're a sole trader consultant. If you work for a company and are getting charged out at $2k a day, you're getting a lot lot less in your hand after they take out their on charges.

Ultimately it's not that much in todays inflated salary world.

If you're on $2K a day, and work 44 weeks of the year (which is the same as a full time employee after annual leave and public holidays), and we'll knock off a week for sick leave, so 43. That's 43*5*2000 = $430000 (fwiw, income tax on that is 39.1%, any additional costs are also tax deductable).

That's in the top 1% of incomes across the country. Easily. Even if you were only earning 80% of that time, you'd be at the 1% threshold. If 99.5% of people are earning less than you, then yes, it's "much".

People have to stop the delusion that high incomes aren't high incomes. They are.

Maybe Barham was talking after tax
