I'm not much of a Dave Hughes fan but surely someone could have checked him out during the Legends game last night. Pretty bad he kept playing with broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Apparently he only had some mild discomfort during the game, it was later on post match he realised he was in deep shit.

Adrenaline wearing off and the body cooling down, that's when you realise you've done some serious damage sometimes.

Yep. I broke/cracked a rib in a game once, spent a few minutes on the side thinking i was just winded, then played the rest of the game.

Then for about two months after I couldn't sleep on my side, twisting too fast hurt like hell, didn't train, didn't play. Was a big wakeup call as to how goddamn potent the jabs they get must be.

To be fair he was probably half the reason anyone showed up.

A legends game is a decent concept if it’s semi competitive with fit recently retired players. But having washed “celebs” like Hughes out there like it’s 2005 is crazy

I don't understand the criticism about the celebs being involved. It's a charity match raising money for a good cause, it's not a competitive footy match.

So yes, definitely more favourable to Nic Nat than what I had posted earlier, but it’s still not clear cut at all. Nic Nat definitely more of an impact at the clearances whereas Gawn more impact around the ground. I dunno, both great players and how do you split them?

I mostly just really like Gawn as a player for his consistency and what he’s able to do around the ground at his height. I don’t feel like he’s been unfairly gifted AA jackets. Obviously I loved Nic Nat as well and recognise how much he papered over deficiencies in our midfield.

McQualter just fodder for the rebuild or is he going to take us back to glory?
Massive kudos for what Nicks has done, more often than not in the past few years i've heard 'Adeleide need a real coach' for them to progress at all. Shows how big a difference the list makes. Crosses fingers hopefully our rebuild doesn't falter and splatter and we're contending like Adeleide in a few years.
