I don't know how anyone can listen to this and say it's not good.
What a load of ******* garbage. No wonder I stopped listening to Triple J over a decade ago. They used to be a radio station for alternative music and championed up and coming bands, now they have become mainstream dog shit.

This sort of top 5 is a distant memory, you know when we were all excited to count down the top songs for that year. I'll show my old grumpy ass out, GET OFF MY LAWN TOO!!!

I don't agree with that at all.

26 artists this year were discovered by Triple J Unearthed including the top 3 and 14 artists in the count don't even have an album out, which tells me that it is not "mainstream dog shit" and is in fact still "up and coming bands".

Oh it's fantastic, no argument from me there. I personally don't think Like A Version tracks should be on the hottest 100 though.

Have to disagree with you. The term 'Alternative' constantly changes. The stuff they play now is considered alternative for our demographic and tastes in music when compared to what's played on a station like Hit FM. Back in the mid 90's Alternative meant Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney etc. it depends what you're comparing it to and when.

I personally love the 'grunge scene' and it's what I listen to a majority of the time. But the music scene has moved on. Rock doesn't chart, pop/dance/electronic stuff does and Triple J is playing the alternative stuff of that during daytime hours.

I guess I just like differentiating between artists and musicians. Many current day "musicians" definitely fit into the former not the latter.

Meh your top 5 compared to yesterday's is about on par.

Triple J has always played about 60/40 good / bad ratio.

Still a lot better than most commercial stations.
