I found the fight enthralling . The 1st 30 seconds when the Ref said let go let go let go . The Ref had Greens arm pinned and his body also prevented Green from protecting at all times against a sleazy King hitting sniper . Green recovered remarkably whilst not 100% . So that was intriguing and I was so happy how Green fought , letting Mundine come at him and countering with heavy body blows . It was clear to me Green won the 1st 8 rounds . Mundine won round 9 with Green doing the Joe Frazier head bob up and down made him look cooked . Mundine couldnt capitalize on that poor defense by Green in that round . The betting odds went wild at this stage and it appeared Green may well be knocked out in the 10th . However Green came out strong in the 10th so the fight was very clear to me that Green won this fight .
Yes it probably should have been cncelled 30 seconds in with Mundine finishing his career fittingly as slimy character and Green Ironically ending his with the Coward punch he campaigns against . I found it enthralling and to say it wasnt the correct decision is ludicrous .
With respect, just because you saw it as enthralling doesn't make a counter viewpoint ludicrous.
I note today many 'experts' and people who know much more about boxing than I do saw it the similarly. This doesn't necessarily make me right, it's just how we saw it. It's subjective. Look at the judges scores on the same fight. These guys presumably watch a hell of a lot more boxing and supposedly understand the technicalities better than you and I (or so they should) and yet look at the resulsts they came up with.
I'm no Mundine fan at all. I was hoping for an emphatic win by Green to silence that idiot for at least a little while. I didn't think Green landed enough and did any particular damage despite his supposed advantage in reach and power. He was slow and cumbersome and his defense at times was awful. Mundine I thought, notwithstanding his early snipe, laid more damaging punches. Its just how I saw it.
I just thought the whole fight was disappointing. For two fighters with over thirty years of fight experience it was anything but the spectacle it was billed it would be. It was boring. There seemed to be little strategy, they both looked slow and laboured through the middle rounds like the 40 year old fading fighters they are. Unlike you, I didn't find it at all enthralling and found myself looking at my watch around the 6th to see how much longer I'd have to sit through it. The ref got involved far too quickly and far too often. Green was allowed to get away with his reverse headlock far too much. Mundine's cheap shot was a joke and showed what a sniper he can be. And since when is below the belt halfway up your abs? WTF was up with Mundine's belt guard )or whatever it's called) being allowed to be so high. Basically protected all but his pecs FFS. The whole thing was a a bit of meh, including the dubious undercard pairings.
