I am expecting a loss. Sydney will be ferocious and there is nothing to suggest we will be up for the contest around the ball. Our one strength so far has been running out the games but on a 5 day turn around I won't be banking on it.

We will need to get off to a flyer.

I'm confident. Swans to jump us early before we claw our way back to win by a point.

I don't know where to put this, but since the article in question is about Vickery this will do.

Apparently the AFL average for hitouts won by a ruckman is 45.6%. How is that possible? 2 ruckman attend every hitout, and 1 of them is credited with winning it, so the average should be 50%.

I know what's happened here, the statsmen have created a misleading number by not weighting the individual's averages for ruck attendence. If ruckman A attends 50 bounces and wins 30 (60%) and ruckman B attends 4 bounces and wins 1 (25%) then the 'average' of those two percentages is 42.5%, whereas the combined wins is 31 of 54, or 57.5%. Either way, Vickery is still shit.

There are also ruck contests where neither ruckman gets credited with a hitout if it is too hard to call, or it goes straight to ground without touching their hands which sometimes happens.

I should know as a used-to-be avid fantasy football player.

Wouldn't be 8.8% of all contests though.

Would swap one of our B-graders for a Cunnington or Ziebell in a flash.

They are like the anti-westcoast midfield but just as flawed because of the lack of balance.

Ziebell, yeah. Cunnington, nah.
Cunnington could be a great player with the right players around him. He certainly a far better inside mid than redden and hutchings. I'd go as far as to say as far as extracting the ball from the contest he would be our second best behind priddis and therefore could be a priddis replacement. It's all moot as he would never even get close to our list but he's not a bad player.

Ziebull could have been a great player if he could kick (Even his handballs aren't great) as he's a good extractor and is powerful breaking away from a contest.

Ziebell is obviously a cut above Cunnington but they both have traits we are short on.

Ziebell would seem more damaging if he had more class to distribute to around him. He often has to do too much which exposes his shortcomings more than neccessary. The bloke knows how to kick a goal too which is something we really lack from our mids.
