No one expected them to be top 8 though. They lost a fair bit of talent last year in their skipper and a brownlow medalist, and Libba (arguably their best mid) is out for the season with a knee.

I would think that if they were to win 8+ games and show some good signs, their fans would be happy. But the way they have started 10 or more doesn't look totally fanciful.

Big losses man power wise but I actually think bringing in Beveridge as coach is the winner .he has this team drilled into the gameplan which is building confidence with every win ..

Is Heeney the NSW boy who was touted to be a top 3 pick had he not be reserved for Sydney? **** that bullshit rule.

Yep, and a few more touted for this year as well.

Yep that's the one SYdney spent pick 18 on him and guess what There will be another one this year in Callum Mills coming out of their academy plus F/s Josh Dunkley and Tyler Roos .

Edit :Roos is Brisbane F/s

The dogs are in good form and are peaking too early to be top 8 but good early wins to build there membership and raise the supporters hopes with this exciting brand of footy .

They are playing well and to me its too early to tell if they are peaking to early or top 8 material (always surprises). I like the way they go about and if they can sustain it they will have a good year. Either way we ran into them in round 1 when they were up and about.

Its on the main board but that Phillip Walsh thing is real. We got a bump into a prelim final from nowhere and when he left we struggled tactically. Port made a prelim after years in the wilderness with him after he left they are 0 and 2 and not looking like the same team ( early days though ). He now has a head coaching gig at the crows and they look a 6 goal better team. Rate the guy highly. This is the most talented squad he has worked with and I think they can make top 2 and then who knows.

Did you see his presser? This bloke is impressive.

Not sure if he left West Coast because he wasn't being considered for the coaching gig?

Was happy with the hiring of Simpson over Sumich, but Walsh would have suited our team well in hindsight.

Didnt see it but will keep an ear out for it! I think we originally poached him from Port with a fair bit of $$. At that time not sure how many people had heard of him but if were willing to pay big overs it must have been known in the inner sanctums of the AFL of the blokes quality ( and the fact port payed a big price to get him back a few years later.) Clubs with foresight will take on new coach and back them in, look what happens when you go back to older coaches. Gold Coast looked ready to charge into the finals, get an older coach and now according to him they are 2 years away from it. ( did he go with this line in the interview process? )

Yeah very true. I do think that it is likely Gold Coast are struggling to adapt to a new game plan though and will be better in the back end of the season.

Would expect them to bounce back next year and push for the top 8 again.

Just out of curiosity I checked back on the date that Walsh left us, it was Sep 3 2013. Worsfold quit on Sep 5 2013. Confidence much?

Had a further look into it and Walsh actually had Worsfold employed to assess the coaching staff at Adelaide in the NAB cup. Seems that Walsh looks up to Worsfold and I think it's entirely possible that part of the reason he left West Coast was that he didn't want to continue to be an Assistant under an unknown coach. Don't get me wrong though, I'm sure heading home to SA and back to a team like Port Adelaide made up his mind.

The team that beat us last weekend is definitely capable of making top 10, which is why I think we jumped the gun a little in bagging WC out after the loss (even though we should have won, it's not like we lost to a terrible side).

Whether or not they can sustain it is another matter, but they played really well against us. 90-odd tackles combined with a fast, attacking gameplan. Pretty hard to criticise that.

Fremantle smashing Geelong now

They're in good form coming into the derby

Yes, they are. Fyfe obviously does his 45 minutes a day on his quads ... so strong and explosive in his core. Just the player we need. Have to stop him and Hill next week if we are to have a show.

Haha

Deadset no chance

We...will...struggle next week. Even if Clarke is out injured. I have images of Mundy, Fyfe and Barlow passing the ball around our mids with ease and Hill bolting on the outside kicking a few goals and assisting five more.
