Not sure if this should go in here, but couoldn't think where else it would suit.
Good article about Mick and his time at the eagles. Interesting few paragraphs that shit all over the idea of "the state team" that so many of our dear freinds (mainly purples) like to throw around.

Found it interesting because when WC do it they get roasted as down hill skiers etc.
Congratulations to Mick, a true champion of the game. Not sure if this should go in here, but couoldn't think where else it would suit.

I was just watching AFL 360 and Talking Footy from Monday. Richmond got roasted and a comment i heard a number of times is that they should be consistently beating the sides who were below them on the ladder. Found it interesting because when WC do it they get roasted as down hill skiers etc.
Seriously? Richmond have shown a capacity at times to beat good teams.
When we beat good teams the focus will go off is flogging poor teams. At present we beat those and completely go to pieces against decent sides. We deserve the crap we get.
Agreed, but Richmond are getting crapped all over for being the opposite to flat track bullies. They seem to beat the harder teams and lose to the easy beats.
Maybe we should do some trading with Richmond...
Not sure which would be more frustrating - having a side that has the ability to compete with and sometimes beat the top sides but also has an alarming tendency to lose games they theoretically should win.Seriously? Richmond have shown a capacity at times to beat good teams.

Wasn't intended as a nonsense whine, just a point of interest. I agree that we have to win against teams that are above us on the ladder, otherwise we obviously won't get better. In general i find it interesting how people say one thing and seem to contradict it next minute. I'm not complaining about it, but also pointing out that it is better we win against teams we are better than, than to be inconsistent and drop those games too.I understand why Richmond are copping shit, I was responding to what appeared a nonsense whine that we were being unfairly maligned.

I would have thought beating those below us and losing to those above would leave us fairly close to where we belong on the ladder.
The nature/size of our wins over teams below I attribute to the quality in our forward line.
If our midfield is able to break even, our forwards get supply and are able to capitalise.
If our midfield is smashed, it wouldn't matter if we had lockett at the other end - we aren't going to kick goals.
Kennedy is often unfairly maligned for being a downhill skier - when simply the ball doesn't get down there, or when it does it is on his head with two opponents.
All likely correct but doesn't insulate us from criticism for not being good enough and tends to mean that we always think we aren't that far away when in reality we are miles away because we lack talent in critical positions
Jack Watts plays his 100th game this week, everybody![]()
Wonder if Ginny's sons will be as good as their dad.McGinnity should notch his 100th early next year![]()
What has been better Mcginnitys games or Watts? haha
It all about where you standNothing wrong with only beating teams below you on the ladder. Just need to be ensconced at #1!!
