Interesting 6 weeks coming up for the Bulldogs and north. I'm really interested to see how they go as I'm not sold on either side yet.

The Bulldogs play Collingwood (mcg), us (Etihad), port (ao), cats (Etihad), then Sydney at the scg and the Tigers at Etihad after the bye. That loss to gws could hurt them if they don't win at least 3 of those. I think they are top 8, but not top 4 yet. Our game against them is really a pivotal game in the scheme of things.

North have a really tough run after a pretty cruisy start.

They've got Sydney at the scg, Richmond in Hobart, the cats, then the Hawks at Etihad, Adelaide in Adelaide, then us off the bye.
Not inconceivable given their form that they go 9-0- 12-4, which brings them right back into the pack.

Ginners would be ecstatic to be mentioned in the same sentence as those stars.

North are one of the few clubs with morals (doesn't mean I like them, but perhaps I respect them more than some other clubs). They don't take money from pokies, right? Let's see how they handle this one.

Was Hodge the last AFL player to be done for this? What was his punishment in footy terms? IIRC he missed a game but not sure.

4 weeks suspension after he comes back from his hamstring which is 3 weeks away. Interesting when LT was interviewed today and asked about Turner he said he will have to earn respect back and he expects him to learn from his mistake and come back and play good footy for the club "not this year, but next year and beyond".

Unless it was a slip up, it would seem the he wont be back in the senior team this season.

I'm looking forward to it to be honest, I would have preferred that our softer games are spread out more than they have been this year, but it is what it is.

We still have to come:
Swans x2
Hawks x2
Geelong
Eagles (away)
GWS
and return games against Crows(away) & Dogs. So 9 of the last 13 games will be against top 8 sides, 6 or 7 of those will be against sides that will be genuinely contending for top 4 and 3 of those games are on the road. It will be a good test.

That's a pretty good opportunity to test yourselves against the best in the business, especially leading into finals.

You've set yourselves up beautifully, and you can only beat the opposition in front of you. The unknown I have for your guys is more a perception thing; you're winning, but not going for the kill. Like the Essendon game, or the game against the saints or the Dees game in Tasmania. You outclass sides for good periods, then seem to coast, and suddenly you've let the opposition back into the game. I just don't know whether it's a conservation thing, or a matter of concentration.

Will be watching with interest. Fwiw, I'm not sold on us either as we have failed those tests up until this point and only now starting to show some form.

Just out of curiosity, what's been your opinion of Del santo & Harvey this year?

That's right, you want to see where you are at. I think the Swans should win at home though.

Unfortunately, our midfield especially without Wells and Higgins plays like a tractor, it's got grunt but it is sadly lacking for freeway driving. I'd prefer we had more outside type players, we have a few young blokes but I don't think we are going to rush them in. In saying that, I don't anticipate there to be a lot of freeway driving against other contenders or when it come the finals.

As to winning margins, what has been hurting us was the skill errors, particularly the really bad turnovers in the defensive 50, we have been leaking 5, 6 or 7 goals from unforgivable errors, really bottom 4 calibre brain fades. All sides make mistakes, even the odd howler, but the number we were making just kept sides in the game or shifted momentum. We have started to clean that up somewhat and have started to restrict the opposition scoring a lot more.

I think the Essendon game was the only really disappointing game in general as we put the cue in the rack at half time after holding them goalless, we only conceded 8 goals after half-time but our effort was really poor.

Will be watching with interest. Fwiw, I'm not sold on us either as we have failed those tests up until this point and only now starting to show some form.

You have lost to Hawks, Swans and Cats on the road, it isn't the easiest thing beating contenders on the road. I think the manner in which you have lost those 3 games is probably the disappointing aspect, while 40ish points isn't a thrashing they are not close losses.

I think Swans "should" beat us at their home with pretty much a full squad to choose from, we have historically had problems beating them and we are down a fair few players. I would hope that we make a game of it though. I'd be disappointed if we were a long way off the pace.

Dal Santo was shithouse earlier in the season, borderline horrific, but his last couple of games have been much better, he has played a bit more outside the mid on the defensive flanks and he was crap at it. He isn't overly fond of tackling or putting his body on the line which aren't good traits for someone played in the defensive 50.

Boomer started well, kicked 12 goals in the first 4 games but has had much more attention on him since then. With Anderson, Garner, Turner, Higgins and Wells all getting hurt we have rookie donkeys like Nahas and Ray in the side and I think clubs can put a bit more effort into shutting down his space.

******* hell Sandi out means Freo will not win a single game this season.

Tanks a lot, NN.

On the plus side, imagine if they win the spoon and we somehow win the flag.

I might just die of joy overload.

We could parade down the streets of fremantle with our premiership cups and throw k-mart vouchers to the crowd there as a form of charity for the unwashed masses there. We'd better watch out for the hipsters though, they may try and mix their voucher into their kale & ass salad and im not sure how i feel about genuinely hurting people even if it is due to their own stupidity.
