Interesting stats on AFL360 tonight about the number of runs of 5+ consecutive goals - 94 in total across the league through 9 rounds, up from 68 in 2014.
Broken down by team and Carlton (LOL) are the worst having had this happen 10 times against them. The most amazing thing was that we're clear top of the pile conceding 5+ consecutive goals on only 1 occasion - don't need reminding of when that was. This is an incredible turnaround as an inability to stop a run used to drive me batty during the Worsfold days when we'd frequently lose a game in a quarter where opponents would pile on the goals - credit to Simpson and the coaching staff for turning this around.

Hall of fame on tonight, just watching Michael O'Loughlin's acceptance speech. An absolute legend of the game, outstanding representative and role model for all young indigenous afl players.

Will always be my lasting memory of him, was a gun no doubt but nothing will replace that image.

Chris Yarran has been omitted from the Carlton team this week. He doesn't seem to be enjoying his time at Carlton at the moment. Wonder if he would be trade bait?
Has been having a good year stats wise, market value might attract some decent offers.

He's the real indigenous role model from the swans not flog goodes

You sure about that?

Mickey O has had some rather sordid offield controversy.

Try David Wirrapanda or Micheal Long for a real role model.

Well maybe don't get driving tips from Wirra...

When a rich white guy says a "war dance" makes him uncomfortable and essentially blame someone else for his underlying racism, Goodes is the exact role model indigenous people, and Australians more generally, need.

He's is so hell bent on fixing the issues that he's willing to step on a fair few toes to do so. In time though, only the net positive gain of his influence will be recalled. People won't say "he pointed at a 13 year old girl", they'll plaster that picture up similar to Winmar pointing at his stomach and praise him for his stance.

I just care that he's a sniping dog on the field. Couldn't care less what he does off the field or celebration, if it's within the law or the rules then good luck to him. But he's a shit bloke on the field, sniper and diver, dislike him on field same as Stevie J, Ballantyne, Thomas, Milne, Suban, Maxwell, whoever.

Thing I don't get is if we're saying its racially motivated, why aren't Jetta, Franklin, Hill, Garlett, Betts, Walters, whoever else you want to throw in, why aren't they getting booed out of the arena too? Obviously Buddy cops a bit, tall poppy syndrome more than anything, but Eddie Betts is as revered as anyone at the moment in the general AFL opinion to counter that one. It's not about Goodes being vocal about his heritage and the issues we need to address, Long and Wirrapanda have also done plenty for indigenous Australians and again, they weren't welcomed with boos wherever they went. Could it be the that ones getting booed the most, Watson, Goodes, J Selwood, probably Shuey, Lindsay Thomas, are booed because of onfield acts such as diving, sniping, ducking etc?

I must have gone deaf during the Joel Selwood boos on the weekend, apart from one obvious Jobe game, I don't ever remember hearing Watson, Selwoods, Shuey, Thomas etc booed.

People who suggest the boos are due to racism aren't actually suggesting people are going "There's a black man 'BOOOOO!!!!'" It's that people have a problem with an indigenous man standing up and being proud with who he is and challenging the accepted belief that Australians aren't racist and that the overall treatment of indigenous is below what it should be.

The overall treatment of indigenous is below what it should be. That's a clear, impossible to argue with, fact. But why is Goodes, who was revered as a champion for so long and then started a downward spiral in the public opinion after dog act upon dog act on the field, so quick to play the race card when plenty of indigenous players are respected and revered? Narkle, Chris Lewis, Wirra from here alone, extremely influential members of the indigenous community, never copped the public criticism combined that Goodes has by himself. Long didn't either, not to this degree. What of that?

And on Thomas, Shuey, Selwood, Jobe, just the overall sentiment (inb4 the vibe castle quote), just BigFooty sentiment whenever their names are mentioned, a few ripples of booing at the game, that sort of thing. Stevie J got booed every time he touched the ball, and it only got worse after he had a clash with Scooter. He'd be in that list above.

After dog act upon dog act? There was only one event that cause this, before then nothing, after that, open season apparently. But no, its playing for frees and stuff.

And name another player besides Long who actually stood up for themselves like Goodes has.

That's why I don't like Adam Goodes.

I fully support his decision to call out that girl if that's the incident you're talking about. My stance is that it's not her fault, she was too young to understand the impact her actions could have, but needs to be taught and if someone with a platform (Goodes) has the means to raise awareness of that behaviour then that's fantastic. I don't mind Goodes decision to do that, and he can do the war dance if he'd like (although for me it just seemed like him trying to make it about Adam Goodes yet again) but to claim people dislike him for racial reasons when there's countless indigenous players in the league who are loved and often pointed to as the pinnacle of creativity or skills in our game (e.g. Betts, Cyril, Buddy) is insane.

People seem to think there are two categories of people with regards to Goodes, but in reality there are a lot more.

Most people have the perception that society is either

Goodes: Champion, legend, hero or
Goodes: arseh*le, all about Adam Goodes, sniper, dog

Reality is, we have to judge him on a number of different things, that includes his onfield play, and his off-field work/celebrations.

Not everyone who thinks positively of Goodes as a role-model is also positive on him as a player, and vice versa.

This whole thing with Goodes isn't a simple yes or no discussion, but goes deeper than that....

FWIW, I think Ochre and HB both made good points, but I am on the Ochre side...

Our first rounder + compo if we lose Selwood should get the job done
I don't know man, first rounder seems too much. I want him as he would be more than handy but is that too much.

How about second rounder + Selwood compo

I mean we got Yeo for second rounder and his miles better then Yarran.

Also on a second note free agency/trades we should be getting a few this year with our improvement we've just become an attractive club to move too now so just wait for the all the come home calls from player now [emoji4]
