The best outcome (if indeed TB4 was used) is

* the players remain not guilty
* dank is found guilty
* the findings shows that TB4 was indeed used at Essendon, simply that which players got it was too hard to prove.

That would show that systematic doping went on, but that records were such that it is impossible to show which individual doped

Lets hope they dont make any comparison between Essendon and the ANZACs on ANZAC day
Some essendon players went to Gallipoli for some documentary to commemorate the 100 year anniversary which will be shown on Anzac Day before and at the match .
What a bunch of flogs

In which case would still leave the club open to punishment, if not the players.

Relax guys they just got "Thymosin"...sure there is a banned variant of it and the panel were convinced that it wasn't the legal variant but...wait where does that leave us?
Oh thats right...no need to try and understand what was the "Thymosin" they received apparently.

Yes, although it was ruled the substance AOD wasn't banned at the time

Substance was always banned and still is. Non one has said exactly why it wasn't gone after other than McDevitt's words that "at that stage no athlete could reasonably have found it to be banned" or some such.
WADA have clarified that it has been banned since Jan 1st 2011.

From my understanding they got off because they couldn't determine who got the TB4 because their record keeping was so bad.

So the Bombers doped players, they just can't tell you which ones.

Jobe said he got Thymosin, so they know he got it. They are just not trying to find out what Thymosin it is even though they are comfortable it wasn't the legal version, seems strange.

Very, if true I hope ASADA/WADA appeals and they win at CAS.

Personally I cant but help think it will be successful at the CAS. But it would have to be WADA as I understand if ASADA appeal they go to...the AFL anti doping panel again, which I am not sure if they will bother. The real test will come if WADA are unhappy with the result and go straight to CAS.

With the kicker being, if WADA do win the case then backdating for suspensions don't apply and the players would have it apply from whenever they are found guilty.

I don't think that is correct.

The time they were provisionally suspended is counted. Simply the weeks whilst back playing are added on.

Ie - they missed 5 months already

They play for 2 months and then get a 9 month suspension

They only sit out another 4 months

What sort of evidience could WADA/ASADA use that wouldn't have already been used? Or is it more that a WADA case will not be heard by an "independent" AFL tribunal?

WADA would be before CAS, so yes that's a somewhat different beast.

As pointed out a bit earlier the AFL report is hardly beyond reproach.

They agree that the Thymosin used wasn't the legal type, they agree that Thymosin was used. You've got consent forms for the use of Thymosin and the club captain admitting that he signed a consent and believes he was injected with Thymosin. Remember, the AFL are satisfied that Thymosin was used and not the legal one.

The dots basically are they can't prove which players took what or if all of them took TB4. However i can't see this being resolved without a minimum of jobe going down and losing his brownlow due to his comments.

When did Watson admit to being injected with TB4? In that infamous On The Couch interview he only mentioned AOD9604, which they never got charged with taking because ASADA royally stuffed up by telling them it was legal - did he admit to TG4 somewhere else?

Just on that it is why I think they need to find out what type of Thymosin it was. Just because the sheets didnt state TB4 or people running a clandestine doping regime didn't clearly mark vials TB4 I don't think that should be the end of it.
IMO if the path gets to their door and then they start referring to peptides as "amino acid blends" to get around the people at the club causing a fuss then its ok if it breaks there. As they were trying to cover it up.
To say it magically disappears at their stage due to compounding chemist trying to convince people he didnt know what he was compounding is a tad strange. they would have evidence in the form of texts etc. that I assume were used as evidence to show Dank & Robinson wanted to call it something else should show they would be confident of the chain breaking there.
Its just my view that the doping panel took an unusually high level of comfortable satisfaction and perhaps that the CAS will view the behaviour as a whole as well as the chain of TB4 to their door and be a tad more comfortable that anyone who said they received Thymosin actually received TB4.

He admitted to being injected with "Thymosin" in his ASADA interview, and said Dank explained that there was a "good" and "bad" Thymosin. Ofcourse the joke being that Dank probably meant good = actually does something :) and not good = not banned.
