I don't think I can stomach another year of obnoxious hawks supporters, they're quickly becoming an unruly bunch over here in Vic. Is it right to barrack for Essendon next weekend, feel like I need a shower just mentioning it
If it means they keep denying Fremantle flags at the present stage, they can be good for the next five years for all I care. :)

Anybody who justifies us carrying McGinnity because Hawthorn 'carry limited smalls' like Puopolo need to watch him today. He's a bloody fine footballer. Patrick is barely WAAFL standard.
Having Puopolo roaming our F50 would be awesome. Hawks just look a class above Geelong, but I like how the Cats have continued to try take attacking options, makes for a lightning-fast game (us on Sat for 2 quarters).

For such a high skilled team though it's remarkable how often they just bang it forward, particularly out of the centre. They are so well drilled though that their teammates down the ground are ready for it

Picked up on this too... Even from a ball up, Mitchell (Or another) would grab the ball and blindly boot it forward only to have a Hawthorn forward running at full pace taking the mark. Couldn't believe how many times this happened.

To be fair his first AFL game was against a very driven, battle hardened Hawk outfit.

Burgoyne also played a blinder and made a fool of Cockatoo's inexperience several times.

Overall not the worst debut, but definitely isn't ready just yet.

Our forward line is well over rated, with a poor midfield taking to much blame.

I'm dos are poor but som are the forwards.

Time for those not intent on the contest to play for the royals.

We've had people saying how great he is and how sad it is we missed him before he'd even played a game. I went extreme the other way to balance things. I reckon he'll be very good in time though.

How the hell is Hawthorn so bloody good?

Every player has eyes only for the ball and if they don't have it, their absolute focus is to get it

I was watching them today thinking that we aren't even in the same league as them. If they don't do the three-peat then they have missed an opportunity.

I reckon it's a lot to do with Clarkson, one of only two world class coaches in the AFL (with Lyon). He looks to have taken elements from Soccer and Hockey and other codes. They hold their positions really well, zig zag their way up the field to open it up. They don't all flock to the ball like Auskickers. Their organisation and familiarity with the game plan is second to none. On top of that they are the most skilled team the AFL has seen.

This is part of it - but I'm sure the player culture plays as much if not more of a role. We often talk about how well our players do on the training track, but compared with the top few sides, we're like:

They dont all flock to the ball because they can back in a few to go and win it. We dont have that luxury looking back at last weeks game. It seemed like most loose ball was eaaily won by young Dogs.

But you watch the Beau Waters retirement speech and he says 45 blokes need to play one style, all do their bit, be it in AFL, WAFL, rehab, and only when they all buy in do you get ultimate success.

We are a long way from that. Frail men shirking contests and waiting for others to go so they can pick up a cheap possie out the back door.

Hawthorn are just so skilful it makes such a difference hitting targets. They are patient and most of the time make the right decision. They were absolutely ruthless against sydney in the grand final.
