AFL legend Wayne Carey has been booted from Perth’s Crown casino after he was caught with a bag of white powder.

The North Melbourne champion was in Perth to cover Fremantle’s elimination final win over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.
The Herald Sun is reporting Carey has been banned from Crown Resorts premises for two years after it understood a zip-lock bag holding a white substance fell from his pocket and onto a gaming room table.

An alarm was activated and in-house security was called, at which point Carey reportedly admitted the substance was his.
The alleged incident, which occurred on Thursday night, also led to Carey being evicted from the Crown Promenade hotel.

A Crown spokesperson confirmed to The West Australian they are aware of the incident “where a patron was escorted from the premises” and “the incident was handled within our standard procedures”.

“At Crown Perth our priority remains keeping our guests, employees and the community safe. As trained professionals, our employees are entrusted to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for customers and staff at all times, and will take necessary action to ensure these policies are abided by,” the spokesperson said.

According to reports, the ban applies to all Crown venues across the country, which means the seven-time All Australian will be banned from attending the AFL-sanctioned Brownlow Medal.

More to come.

How that miscreant is allowed in the mainstream footy media is a joke.

What messages do they send every time he goes on air?

Woman beater, best mates with the Moran's, druggie and shags his best friends wife.

Yet continues to be dragged out and paid well just because he was once good at football.

Hypothetical - Fremantle makes the GF and Fyfe is declared fit. Does he get picked?

Note: Purple lurkers should feel free to answer.
Nope.

Should have got rid of him two/three years ago

Here’s a hot take - the father-son rule should be revamped or eliminated altogether. The system benefits long-standing clubs most (i.e. Victorian ones) and elite footballers are more likely to have kids who are elite footballers. Collingwood shouldn’t just fall into very good players like the Daicos brothers because their dad played for Collingwood a generation ago. The Bulldogs (already a good team) shouldn’t get Sam Darcy and only have to give up some picks in the 30s and 40s to get him. It’s a bad system that benefits the traditional power clubs in AFL and makes it slightly harder for the other clubs to get elite players through the draft. At a minimum if you’re going to give clubs first crack at father-son picks, get rid of that 20% discount so that they have to give up something closer to full value.

Given we've been around for 35 years, we are now in the zone where we can also regularly benefit from father son rules. Just comes down to luck. Unfortunately, we haven't had much luck with the sons of the 90s players (Brennan and Waterman the only ones to make it). Sumich and Matera didn't come on, have no idea about Woosha's kid but apparently Banfield might be a chance.

Father son rule is the best rule the AFL has. Just need to tinker with the point system so teams are actually paying proper value for them

Yep, the romanticism of the idea is fine. Just get rid of the discount and that should do it in terms of equalisation.

Mainwaring's son plays WAFL right? But yes, we are moving into the 'traditional' club advantage of having our inaugural players now having adult kids, the situation will only improve as the years roll by. If Oscar Judd turns out to be a jet and chooses us then I will have zero objections to paying for him with a 20% discount.

Was listening to Bartel on Schofield's podcast, apparently the 2006-2011 Cats players have had a high number of sons. So from 2030 onwards you might see a new crop of them come through, just what the comp needs 🙄

Thats underwhelming.....imagine staying at crown promenade.

Oh boy, His excuse is a doozy! hahaha

Wayne Carey has denied any criminality in his latest controversy telling media the bag of white powder that fell from his pocket and onto a Perth casino gaming table was “not an illegal substance” but in fact painkillers.

The North Melbourne champion is in the spotlight again following a night of gambling at the casino on Thursday, where it’s understood a zip-lock bag containing a white substance fell from his pocket and onto a gaming room table.

An alarm was activated, and in-house security was called, at which point, the 51-year-old reportedly admitted the substance was his, the Herald Sun reported.

On Monday night, Carey told The Age after the allegations emerged that the white powder wasn’t illegal, but rather “an anti-inflammatory that he took with dinner”.

“It was not an illegal substance, it was offered to security. Security didn’t take it,” he said.
“They just said it’s not a great look, I understood that, and we left without incident.”

The former player has since been stood down from his AFL commentary role with the TV station and has been banned from Crown Resorts for two years.
This means the seven-time All Australian will be prevented from attending the AFL-sanctioned Brownlow Medal.
Carey also writes a column for The Age and editor Gay Alcorn said: “We are aware of the story and will look into it in coming days.”

Right but think about it from the perspective of one of the Suns or Giants’ 15 supporters, they’ve got a generation to go to get access to this advantage. And make no mistake, being able to grab a player like Nick Daicos who will probably be a multiple-time All Australian, but “should” have ended up at a club like Gold Coast or North, is a huge advantage.

Sure - but they have plenty of other concessions to offset it (academies etc).

I carry little bags of white powder everywhere I go - it's just protein mix to be ingested nasally.

So naturally you would also stand yourself down from your employment duties despite your innocence when you drop a bag of it onto a gaming table at the Cas.

Pick a lane, Wayne. If the powders not illegal why are you standing yourself down? 🤦
