We hadn't beaten Pies in 13 years at the G then the year we won the flag we beat them twice there.

I reckon Lions are a sneaky chance but I actually think Freo will frighten the he'll outta Coll and could win

Their troubles seem more broad than just not matching up well on the Demons. They also can't play the G well. Its a lot to overcome at once, but not impossible.

Freo are half a chance. Full of belief now. Pies run and gun, never die attitude leaves them open for counter attack footy. Freo will need to be in front and hang on for dear life.

Hopefully but Brissi will probably need more than that to get up. The other game looks 50:50.
I think Pies will destroy the Dockers. While their comeback against the Dogs was exciting, it was pretty damning that they ever fell that far behind. It will be a different story against Collingwood who have a pretty good defence.

Pies were unlucky to lose against Cats. I can see them coming out firing and it looks like Freo is pretty suspect under pressure.

Haha, that's quite the hack. On a premiership teammate as well. Love it.

Kane Cornes. For all his bluster and wannabe shock-jock carry-on, does occasionally make some valid points.

Why do we have such a problem with Castore?

I'm sure that all the Premier League and other soccer clubs like Newcastle, Aston Villa, Rangers and so on don't have the problems we have.
Same as the England, S Africa, Windies cricket teams.
Or the McLaren F1 team.

Is it us? Or is it them? And regardless, why?

I reckon a few younger pies players might be questioning whether they’re really good enough or just got on the right end of a heap of close ones

Dunno if McRae’s post-game comments about not being losers will have the desired effects either

So another year and another year GWS top up Vic Clubs. This time Richmond with both Hopper and Taranto.
Cant see them dropping and having a rebuild. Vic Clubs don't need to anymore when they have GWS and GC as there academy every year.

I'm just going to say it. We are going to be down the bottom for a very long time and one of the biggest reasons is the disadvantages we have to face in our rebuild compared to sides like Geelong and Richmond who never will have too. We dont have much players wanting to come to us. We don't have much trade value. Our rebuild is simply going to be a long long road with just the draft and draft alone for us to rebuild on.
If we screw it up we screw our future up for years.

Next year when we go bottom 4 we better ask for priority picks because F the AFL. They have royally screwed the league and the effect of these rabble expansion clubs is propping up Vic Clubs constantly. I hope we get a lot drop off memberships because AFL need to get the message that the comp is far from being equal.

Nah, we'll be fine. Richmond won't necessarily be a premiership contender with those players anyway. Their forward line is OK but they really need a second tall forward (Reiwoldt is absolutely cooked). Defence is OK too. They will likely be a finals team, but I wouldn't lock them in for a premiership. Geelong is a good example of this strategy keeping you up but not going all the way.

We just have to take our medicine and spend a bit of time at the bottom. If we do it right, we'll grab some great top end talent and be up soon enough. We still have a bunch of solid players on our list, just need some top end mids, another KPF and to fix the ruck. I think we're back in finals by 2025 at the latest.

It feels bad now, but we're already 18 months through being shit. Another 12-18 and the wheel will start to turn.

I see Geelong as quite different to Richmond or some of the other clubs who are constantly poaching players from interstate (especially from GWS and Gold Coast). The only two really good players on their list who came from interstate are Dangerfield and (the only one from one of the "rabble expansion clubs") Cameron. Their list is mostly guys who they drafted and developed along with a handful of players who they got at very good value because they weren't doing much at their former clubs (or someone like Tyson Stengle, who they basically threw a lifeline to and this year he was All Australian). I give Geelong a huge amount of credit because it seems like every year they look like they're getting too old and they should have to rebuild soon, and every year they're in the hunt for top 4 because they draft and recruit incredibly well and play a very good system. Whereas Richmond definitely have taken more advantage of GWS and Gold Coast (although it should be said that this is not a magic bullet; Essendon and Carlton have poached lots of players from the expansion clubs and haven't played finals in a long time).

Our biggest problem right now is that our drafting and our player development have been rubbish recently. There are plenty of good players being drafted out of the WAFL to clubs interstate, but some of those guys are probably going to be less keen to come home and play for the Eagles (like Yeo, Cripps, etc) because it doesn't look like the Eagles will be good anytime soon.

I bet you thought 2011 would be a clusterf***, yeah?

Things change very quickly in this business - not saying this side will make top 4 next year, or even finals or even be competitive, period - but saying that in 2024 we are guaranteed to be shit is just your opinion.

Richmond could only make elimination finals for three years in a row then finished bottom 4 in 2016...again, not saying we will be Richmond, but did you also completely write off for the next few years after 2016?

More than ever nowadays, with the competition so even the primary driver of success is a winning game plan and the personnel to stick to a winning game plan, and you just need a few key players to come on.
