Oh dear, that was such a tease for an opening post. You'd better explain about Françoise Hardy in context, particularly the fact that she has been around for a long long time.

Don't know if AIR counts as they sing mostly in English, or not at all.

What are your favourite songs by Mme Hardy?

I am enjoying Auletta's debut album Pöbelei & Poesie. Ein Engel kein König is an awesome song. (official site,
MySpace)

I think they are the next big thing in Germany, with their post-punk style. I admit to liking ECHT! at the time when they were popular.

Rosenstolz is also a great band. They are huge in Germany (Austria and parts of Switzerland).

A great band from Quebec and really popular in France is coeur de pirate (MySpace). Comme des enfant was a huge hit in France earlier this year.

I've got a heap more, but I'm not sharing anymore unless others do first.

Sigur Rós - yes, have been listening to them for years and went to a concert in Sydney one time. Seeing Jonsi playing his electric guitar with a cello bow was amazing.

Hurr's a Japanese band I discovered a few weeks ago after buying their debut EP. Cool sound, they formed after seeing MBV at Fuji Rock... how cute. :p

Their myspace is awesome if you are epileptic.

I don't understand what you mean. I know she's been around a while, but I know none of her songs. At the end of the day the song's in another language, and that was the point of the thread.......

You only gave a taste, which may have implied that you had a huge Françoise Hardy collection.

Posting up random songs unfamiliar to many, means that they have to look up the artist and check out their other works.

In any case, iTunes has a 'best of' collection by Mme Hardy of 59 songs for $25.99. Not bad.

My dad's Hungarian and he's fairly into stuff from there. Most of it I don't like but this goes OK.

The band's been going almost 50 years.

Why are you being such a pedant? No one "has to" look up anything, if they take further interest then its up to them, even so its not that difficult in this day and age. Also does it really matter whether I've got a huge Francoise Hardy collection or not? I was just posting a song that I thought some people might like:rolleyes:
Seriously mate...........

I found this song on my Itunes (No idea how it got there) and gave it a listen due to its novel title. Not a bad track. Thats about as far as I go when it comes to non-english music.
