I really admire Cripps’ loyalty, but at the same time wonder whether it’s crept into Stockholm syndrome territory.
Murphy is the one with Stockholm syndrome, Cripps and Curnow pretty have the keys to the kingdom so you can understand them buying in but for Murphy to not at least explore his options seriously surprises me.

The one bizarre thing that I've just noticed about Carlton is that their entire team is essentially either first round picks, or everyone else's recycled trash. No late draft finds, no rookie success stories. Their recruiters haven't been able to find anything, anywhere apart from the super obvious stuff that was right in front of their eyes.

Ed Curnow was a rookie and he’s pretty solid.

That's one, I think maybe 2 administrations ago. They knifed Rogers because he was rubbish and bought in SOS but I'm not convinced he's actually any better given he's been at 2 clubs and my criticism is exactly the same, he could not have more to work with and has under delivered IMO.

You think we're shitty with Dodoro, how shitty would we be if he had been given 10 more top 10 draft picks to work with and was dishing up this shit?

You’re definitely right about Murphy. Curnow, I get at this stage, especially so given his brother is there. Cripps I just can’t fathom - the WA teams would give anything for him, and he’d comfortably command a mill per season from a number of teams.

With regard to their recruiting - I was talking to a long suffering blues supporting friend about exactly this. They seem to have shown no creativity at all in their recruiting. I’m not sure whether they are risk averse or just bad at recognizing unconventional talent, or both.

The sanctions 16 years ago were too harsh excuse doesn’t wash with me at all anymore. That’s an entire generation of players. There must be something so wrong with the whole organisation.

Getting Boekhurst was seen as creative.

Holy shit I just saw the final scores. 11 goals? Fmd.
Bizarre game. About 20 minutes in Kreuzer got tackled and didn't come back on because he was complaining of shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat so they had to ruck Curnow, Jones and even Cripps at times so the Saints pretty much just walked it out.

A side with a couple more attacking weapons would have done them in by 100 points

Non-Essendon Thread keeps ending up discussing Essendon for some reason  Possibly related to a certain navy blue team putting down more roots at the bottom of the ladder than you could reasonably expect from an old and sprouted potato.

At any rate, since we have nowhere else to talk about that that I know of... continue that here: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/thre...ly-how-did-we-lose-to-carlton-thread.1199049/

He can pretty much write his own cheque at Carlton, he also gets big brown paper bags too.

& Cripps will deserve every penny given the way he plays & heavy load he's asked to carry each week, but that can't continue much longer or the system will have spat him out by the time he's ~ 28.

What supplements are Carlolton using? Marchbank with an irregular heartbeat last round, now Kruezer?

Not sure if this should go here or in the delusional pearlers thread but I was just reading the saints board looking for some info about Webster's injury for supercoach reasons. Several posters over there talking up Carlisle as their next captain.. I just.. I literally can't even right now.
i’ve heard that too from saints mates! the mind boggles.
