Carlton still sh*t.

It's better than that.

They've convinced themselves AGAIN, that they've successfully rebuilt that fundamentally flawed club.

They're nowhere near it.

I did notice that.

Honestly felt he looked both 'all at sea' and completely unaccountable.

Did smile.

Teague would be going in to Round 1 more nervous than he'd like to be.

All the pieces are there to win a final assuming they have improved their defensive system to stop the runs on and ball pinging up and down. No such improvement was on display last night. It would be hard to look at anything short of a finals win as a successful season.

There are parts of the team balance which I suspect they're going to continue with which, to me, are wrong. The rebound of Docherty and Saad should be something to compliment their game. I'd plant my foot firmly in Saad's arse, making it clear that job number 1 is not to let a borderline AFL player like Lonie kick 1 goal let alone 4. I don't like the balance of their midfield either. Feels very light minus Cripps and Setterfield is wasted on a wing/half back. It's very reactive in the sense that at best the ball will go their way probably 20% of the time and yet that's what they're set up to capitalise on (much like we are). Walsh, Martin, Williams and Dow has a very similar feel to our midfield. Individuals are not the issue as much as the combination of the individuals. If Stocker has had a good pre-season as has been said he has to play.

I suppose there is not much they can do about it until Casboult, McKay and Curnow get a clear run at playing but Silvagni is too slow to play whole games as a forward. I've long thought he should be Cripps' number 2 (i.e. the inside mid of the second rotation, Langford with the required intensity/physicality is what that has looked like).

Had a distinct feel/look of a side that though it was going to front up and win. When I look at the list, there are good reasons for confidence but you don't expect that become the mindset of the players. If they have been drinking a bit of bathwater last night was a much needed clip.

I think many of us expect so much more from Carlton when you do look at their list (best 22). There's a lot of talent, but is there depth & what are their skill levels like?

Interesting midfield comparisons to us in that they tackle well, pressure generally seems good around the ball but it's when it gets out they look slow. Out of all of it it seemed as if they still can't hit targets by foot. Not sure what their overall ruck stocks are like but it genuinely looked as if Pittonet lacks any and all agility. Kind of like Bellchambers last year. Couldn't really jump.

I can forgive their forward line. No Curnow or Casboult is going to hurt.

That said it's their defensive set up that's been bolstered & they look like they should be a tough team to score against, however St Kilda put all that to bed pretty easily imo. Did Weitering play I can't even remember seeing him??

Wait.

Did Jack Lonie just give Saad a ******* bath?

To me they look like front runners in the middle, like us, and like us they're light for inside grunt. They have Cripps but he is 1 man (mountain). They need another inside specialist. It looks to me that they'll waste Setterfield and that Silvagni is unlikely to realise his potential in the current set up. As I said above if inside specialist is what Stocker is, he simply has to play.

I think Williams is completely wasted inside, much like Merrett is.

Buckley, what the hell?

The smart thing to do is to say nothing or to cop it on the chin.

Your organisation paid overs for Treloar because you were obsessed with him from the AIS days. He plays about as well as he could and then gets publicly humiliated about his mental health to force him out as part of a salary cap squeeze.

It all seems pretty personal to me.

Hard to see an implosion on the horizon due to the level of talent but I am starting to wonder just how many cracks are in those four walls.

Why did he even comment on it? Leave it in the past where it belongs eh.

Considering his penchant of overtly taking the moral high ground and to preach a new found sensitivity and mindfulness, his lack of emotional awareness of those on the end of his decisions is remarkable.

It's one of those things that, in my view, if you have to talk about it...
