So do the football scribes blame Hawthorn's total lack of run in the first half on the presence of Bailey or did Hawthorn win because they players on the ground pulled their fingers out. I can see all the talk being about Hawthorn being too tall. Funnily enough their talls were the difference.

Yeah, I agree. Bailey was quite good when he was on. In the end, it was Lake, Buddy and Roughy that really turned the tide.

Yeah i think it is a little too early to make a call on Buckley, im not a big fan of his but i don't like calling out people too early as its the whole reason i hate the media in this country. I do agree with your points though

I used to really admire the guy until some of his on field stuff made me lose some respect for him, and i felt Ablett went past him. But tonight was a really great game from him, makes you remember how good he was.

I'd go ablett, hird , Judd as my top players in my short time watching footy. About 98 onwards.

Pav, Hird and Kouta are 3 genuinely good players that can change the game in different positions. They all had the ability to go anywhere on the ground. Roughead is heading that way now. Obviously has a long way to go, but Clarko has shown he is willing to try Roughy anywhere, including on the ball as a midfielder, and conversely Roughy has shown he has the talent and the physical capabilities to pull it off.

Goodes on the other hand, while very good, I don't recall him ever going into defense to help change the game.

still think that mick is building a sustainable game plan. they are a few players short and lack a little polish. judicicious recruting and trading will make them more competitive in 2014.​

Carlton may have close to the cattle now but Judd/Scotland/Waite are some of their most important players and will be dropping off or retiring soon. Don't think they can grab a flag before that happens
