In a talent sense the Victorian clubs are destined to be the poor cousins of the teams from the north for foreseeable future.

It's why Roos' concept tapping into the importance of staying competitive and never bottoming out, and then maybe falling ass-backwards into a premiership is the healthiest approach to northern expansion.

It will be interesting to see if the aggressive press-ganging of the last three or four years on their part ultimately results in the collapse of that though.
