At least WCE did the job.. and Gold Coast has imploded without GAJ. Adelaide looked very good. They will make it I think.

Loss to Richmond epic.. just so disappointing.. but we are still in the 8.

And nice to see some scoring in all games today.. far more interesting to watch.

A low scoring game that is close or one sided contests with high scoring? Found the games today to be pretty boring.

Though I do enjoy a high scoring game that is close.
Yeah.. but sometimes you can have low scoring blow outs.. which are really unappealing.. also the Carlscum 'slow the clock for an entire half of football' was dead boring to endure.

I thought the WB vs StK game was good from that perspective.. ebb and flow.. fast end to end action and result in question until the last 3 minutes..

Yeah the saints dogs game was ok. Not the highest quality, but good to watch.

With 3 rounds left, who is in the best position for the flag? Sydney for mine, especially with the consistency of the team in the midfield. If Tippett and franklin stay in for the rest of the season, can't see them being beaten.

My thoughts on the Premiership Contenders:

Hawks are coming good at the right time and are still full of stars.. will take a heap of beating.

Sydney are good.. like 9.8% better good. However still suspetible IF Tippett or Franklin can be contained. Queries of speed on the outside at times.

Geelong are patchy.. yes they keep winning.. yes they are still very good however plenty of holes opening up now.. they won't win it this year

Freo are building nicely.. I think Lyon has a plan.. the loss to St K was not in the plan.. but things are ticking over in the West. Don't see them having enough to win but will be there again come Prelim time imho. Can be beaten by outside run, so very weak against Hawks.

Port are exciting.. they look like they have been flogged hard on the track in anticipation of a big finals efforts. Can beat anyone on their day but this is not their year. Scary match up in the finals.

North are bog ordinary.. yeah yeah.. they can win.. but so many weaknesses.. so many variables.. so mentally fragile. I think they will be one and done in the finals.

Adelaide are patchy and rely very very heavily on their top 8 players. Depth is horrendous and like Gold Coast.. an injury to Dangerfield or Sloane would see them not win another game this season. Will make finals imho.. but no threat against the 'big 4'.

Essendon are bi-polar, the Jekyll and Hyde of 2014. Can beat anyone on their day.. but so far haven't this season. Struggle up forward and for outside run. Have their skipper coming back but will struggle to make finals from here. If they do make it.. a very good chance to be 1 and done except they likely play North first up and can beat them comfortably.

Of the rest:
Collingwood are gone.. Still have enough cream to win against lowly teams but are nowhere near the top 4/8 teams in the comp. Need to rebuild positions 12-26 on the list.

Gold Coast are nothing without GAJ. If anyone had any doubt over just how important the little master is.. Gold Coast have shown the reason why the man is ranked #1 but just about everyone. Were on track for finals.. but one shoulder has meant they will miss September action.

Richmond have gone on their yearly honeymoon run towards the 8 and could still make it, however it will be tough. Definately have given their fans reason to hope and dream but will get found out against top opposition. Poor depth, poor skills and a weak defence.

West Coast Eagles are the last 'mathematical' chances.. but this team is nowhere near ready to challenge for a flag. Too slow and tall up forward that is found out badly against well organised, running defence. Midfield lacks polish and relies on Nic Nat to dominate if they are to win games. Will rise quickly next year but this year have left it too late.

My Predicted Ladder at the end of Round 22:
Hawks
Sydney
Cats
Freo
Port
North
EFC
Adel

Coll
WCE
Rich
GC

Asked Fletch at a sportsmans do last night and he reckons he's playing
Announced on the news tonight that he will miss with a finger injury.

I'd love to be wrong though.

Fairly convinced the Bulldogs have got something exponentially special on there hands in the form of Marcus Bontempelli. Like top 5 player in the competition special. Can do anything and has so much resemblance to the most talked about man at the moment (Nat Fyfe for those of you playing at home) it's not funny.

Strong over the ball, inside or outside, good over head and can go forward and kick goals.

They still need a true key forward and no more of those petty third tall types any more (although the ones they do have a pretty bloody good at the moment).

Was actually thinking about Bontempelli as permanent forward today. Could develop into an Elite full forward, incredibly grippy hands, beautiful set shot and capable at ground level. Two years time as Stringer gets his fitness up and joins the midfield rotation Bontempelli as a 75% forward 25% mid split could kick 50+ goals.

Maybe Tom Lynch ******* his own neck by headbutting Justin Clarke will force the afl to stop paying the ******* free kick for it.

And it ended up causing Justin Clarke to be subbed out in the third quarter. Until that time Clarke was Walker's master.

Without having seen much of last night's game (I was watching Port's return to relevant form) I think Freo would be just coming out of a heavy training block. Will be a fascinating game against Hawthorn.

Power is still a long way off top form - They were dead set ordinary against Collingwood, who were likewise - And it was no surprise to see WC wipe the floor with Collingwood. The way Power are playing I can only give them one win in their last three.

Definitely not back in form yet, although they definitely turned a corner with that performance.

One thing I thought was really interesting was Trengove playing forward. O'Shea's good form in Jonas' usual role has allowed Jonas to play as a genuine tall defender, allowing Trengove to play forward. This is a good alternative to playing an underperforming Butcher.

Power haven't turned the corner - They are a long way off their early season form.

NOT FOOTBALL RELATED BUT SEVERELY DISTURBING

HOLY HELL! How is that still allowed on youtube?

You are able to turn a corner and still not be at your peak form Yaco... They were very good for periods against the Swans, just couldnt score, which against Sydney is nothing really unheard of, the point is they have their run back They have improved on their last few weeks.
