No, there always has been in Victoria though. This is a new thing.
Sorry, I wasn't saying it hasn't happened in the past, just that it isn't happening now.

Actually falls on a saturday next year...
How would i make up thje fixture? id work around it, they work around Easter every year they can work around this if they wanted to (my point is they dont, they want the moneys, which i think is poor form) They can do what they always do and schedule the game in NZ at night if they wanted.

Saturday or Sunday is the same principle. You didn't answer my question about WA Diggers - Anzac day game clashes with their ceremony.

And there are >7 times the people (and presumably veterans) on the eastern seaboard. It's exactly the kind of **** move you'd expect from this administration though, particularly after they've just spent the last year ****ing around with the fixture to the point that there were thirteen (count 'em) regular-season Saturdays with less than five games on. They couldn't give the slightest shit about anything but their bonuses and the KPIs that trigger them. It almost makes me oppose Good Friday footy, purely on the basis that they'll find some way to **** it up.

It's a fact of life that there are time differences throughout the world.
Great, but why exacerbate them?

Can you fixture that round - Ensure that all the stakeholders are happy.

It's not hard yaco. Take a bog-standard fixture and replace the second Saturday afternoon game with any timeslot that isn't 11AM. Exactly like they've been doing all year.

So:
Friday night
Saturday afternoon for the main game
Saturday night in New Zealand, playing at twilight in Australia.
Saturday night x2
Sunday 1PM
Sunday 3PM
Sunday twilight
Monday twilight in WA, where it's a public holiday, playing at night for the rest of the country

Or throw in one of the Thursday or Sunday night games head office is so fond of.

I get what Yaco is trying to say, my problem is they obviously havnt tried to work around it as fodzilla said they have just gone ahead and done it. Its arrogant, its money grabbing and its the typical attitude of everything the AFL does, its all about them. The only reason they actylayy have "themed" rounds or focus on a social issue is because it makes them look better or makes them money, its not out of any care or want to help, all about image. Thats what i have an issue with.
You can not care yaco55 i honestly dont mind, you do seem to be a bit older than myself so maybe you have grown to accept that this is the way things are. Thats ok, we can disagree.

Pretty much what they should do really. No reason not to do that at all, oh except for money :p

To be considered money grabbing, doesn't it have to, you know, grab money? I don't think shifting a game from twilight/prime time to morning/early afternoon is gonna exactly rank in the ad money. It has more the feel of a kiss of death regrading the future of the NZ game. It seems to all but stamp the NZ game as third in line regrading ANZAC round 'traditions' (Ess-Coll, Freo's night game, which seems to now be Freo's Friday night game, and then NZ game)

Richmond supporters banging on about making the finals. They do realise they have Adelaide in Adelaide and Sydney in Sydney in the last three rounds? They would have to win both of them.

Best thing about Richmon winning last week....they think they can make the finals until they come 9th lol...Adelaide will beat them, Sydney will flog them.

A Thursday night would work well - You seem to forget that teams will be queing up to play on Anzac Day - It's their chance to play on this special day.l

I'm hoping they beat Adelaide, beat St Kilda, then go into the final match full of hope........ then get smashed by Sydney :p

Plus if they lose to both Crows and Swans, they'll finish closer to 12th, which is nowhere near as fun as if they finish 9th.

But there's clear monetary benefit they're chasing with night football. The change to the NZ game just seems like an attempt to sideline it
The initial motive behind NZ games is clear enough. That they're a failure and the league is too stubborn to admit that and can them is just the next step down the line of business as usual.

And at least six more teams will get their chance.
