I don't understand the significance of keeping our two colours for the sake of it. Our jumper is black with a red sash on it, not red with bits of black thrown in to make it feel more Essendon with Melbourne's socks. Anything that is not black with a red sash is not our jumper. Within the proposed range of colours (being black, red and the neutral grey and white) if the jumper is not black with a red sash on it really doesn't matter and then, as far as I'm concerned, it becomes a question of aesthetics.

It doesn't stop surprising me that the primary issue here is not what looks good but rather what do we feel is most Essendon. It is ridiculous. The towel draped on the black with red shorts was a disgrace and shamed our traditional jumper but bastardising it to the point that it looked terrible.

I initially wanted a white away strip because I think they look the best and was opposed to the grey but I've come around. If grey, which, if it feels any better is generally the colour of fighter jets and bombers, was not an Essendon colour it now is because no one else uses it. That we've used the grey jumper for the original jumper makes about as much sense as anything else.

If you like the look of the grey I think the one thing that we should hope for, assuming that we'll always be forced to have the clash strip, is that it never changes.

That may as well be St Kilda that one, I think colours are everything

Not important
Edit: Seriously, maintaining the grey for the sake of it being a 'tertiary' colour is a load of tosh. Black and red are the only colours synonymous with Essendon Football Club and white is the greatest contrast to black/ dark blue, so these should be the only issues to consider regarding a clash jumper.
Who says 'tosh?' Honestly.

I've never seen a variation of a St Kilda home jumper that is predominately white.

It's undeniably Essendon even without a line of black on the other side of the red sash.

In fact, from a distance the red jumper with a black sash and white shorts is much more St Kilda.

So people would actually be more opposed to a white clash jumper due to it looking like St Kilda colours, in comparison to the current grey one? And all this after red is considered a dark colour by the league.......why, why, why???

Who says 'tosh?' Honestly.
Er.....I just did? ;)

I'd take the same design on a white jumper but the grey keeps growing on me so I'm now comfortable enough with it.

I think it's fitting that this discussion is taking place in the non-Essendon thread.
To be fair it's evolved from discussion of the whole Port/Richmond debacle earlier in the week.

I still go the super old fashioned route and question the need for any clash jumpers at all, but the horse has well and truly bolted on that one.

So the media seem to think that the Bulldogs are chasing Casboult?

(if true:)
F'ing LOL.

Paying overs to get Casboult and Crameri from other clubs to be your key forwards. Good job, Gordo! YOU ARE TEH DANGER!!!1

That is bizzare given that McArtney refuses to play Tom Campbell who would be as effective.

I guess Casboult teases because if someone could teach him how to kick at even the low side of average for an AFL player he would be a seriously handy player.

if i were the dogs i'd absolutely try to trade in casboult, trade out minson and use campbell as the first ruckman and casboult as the forward/back-up.

it might not work out but obviously sitting around expecting cordy and jones to step up isn't working out either. of course, i probably would have tried to ship out minson last season
