North finished top 4. If we had done what they did we'd be saying we finished top 4 too.
I wouldn't - I'd be saying we finished 6th and made it through to the Prelim via knockouts through sheer effort.

Top 4 is top 4 - you either make it, or you don't. You've got 22 games to do it.

That's a load of shit and we all know it. They were in the last 4 teams left. Therefore top 4.

It's a stupid argument. Overall they finished top 4, but when everyone talks about top 4 they are talking about after the home and away games...

He's been great, 11 hit outs to advantage plus great follow up work around the contest.
Hit outs are the most overrated stats in the world.

Gimme a player who can also actually get some of the pill, lay on some pressure and/or influence the scoreboard over a hit out-o-rama dude any day.

Honest to god, if it was a club like Melbourne or Adelaide, nobody would give a crap.
don't think it has anything to with it being about North. Until this thread I'd never heard of playing in a prelim as being the same as finishing 4 on the ladder. As has been pointed out, it can be described as being one of the last four finalists, but that is fundamentally different than finishing 'top 4' as ladder positions don't change once the finals start (if they did the whole double chance thing would have to be changed).
