Oh please, Hurley was consistently injured and Jake played down back. Crameri for the majority was our number 1 forward.

I am laughing actually, but not for the reason you think.
Crameri played in 8 games over 2012 and 2013 where Hurley wasn't playing, out of a total of 34 games. That's far from being the #1 forward every game. He kicked 15 goals in those games, fwiw. He's never had 60 tackles in an entire season. His defensive pressure has been complete shit for a long time. Jack Darling as a comparison as a similarly sized forward, has laid 305 tackles in his 90 game career and only dropped below 60 tackles a year once, probably twice after this season. He's terrible at defensive pressure, he and Hurley were, that's why we needed to play Kommer in the forward line.

He blocks defender's he takes them away from play. Tackles aren't the only thing to look at when looking for defensive pressure.

The only reason you are arguing is pure stubbornness. Nobody has said he's an elite player but shit player he is not. He'd be a walk up start for most forward lines.

The moral of the story is: sometimes things which are not great do not default to being shit! Good, serviceable and adequate are very useful words to strike a balance in situations such as these.

The skill of a footballer is not a binary proposition.

With everyone fit he wouldn't get a game at Hawthorn, Sydney, Port, Fremantle, Adelaide, West Coast, Geelong, North Melbourne, Collingwood, GWS. So I beg to differ.

Which of:

Roughead, Gunston, Hale
Franklin, Tippett, Reid
Pavlich, Taberner, Clarke
Walker, Jenkins, Lynch
Kennedy, Darling, Lycett
Hawkins, Clark, Walker
Petrie, Waite, Brown
Cloke, Reid, Witts
Cameron, McCarthy, Tomlinson

Does he displace? Keeping in mind that he's nowhere near tall enough to replace Hale, Tippett, Clarke, Jenkins, Lycett, Clark, Brown, Witts and Tomlinson as 2nd ruck in those sides.

Agreed, we'd be mad to not still want him in our team. Whether he's worth what he was asking is an entirely different manner. I don't think he is.

Give it a ******* rest eth.

Also, its ok to say that Clarkson did the wrong thing, and that the Port fan also did.

Both parties can be wrong, we don't have to champion one side over another.
This, x100

I can't work out why everybody seems intent on taking a side in this. The port fan clearly invaded clarkos space, clarko clearly over reacted.

Yeah alright, I'll continually scream within millimetres of your face for 50 metres and see how calm you remain.

Everyone is always so perfect with the benefit of hindsight.

It's become far too academic for most. The reality is that it's a frightening and threatening and basic survival instincts kick in (fight or flee stuff).

The adrenalin takes over, you get jumpy or freeze and react in ways that you can't really predict and can be hard to control all in the context of the total unpredictability of someone affected by drugs/alcohol.

Been watching a lot more footy than usual as the misses is still away and paying particular attention to Fremantle who I really want to see win a flag.

Not much needs to be said about Fyfe, it pains me to have to admit it but he may be better than Hird (who he seems to be often compared to).

Two players that have really stood out to me are Ibbotson and Hill.

Ibbotson is seriosuly good over head and has a beautiful kick, he'd be the best half back going around at the moment. His defensive game is excellent as is his attacking (which is not always the case for some of the more highly regarded half backs).

Hill is on the way to taking a place alongside McLeod and Long as one of the best indigenous players and a champion of the game. He has added increased physicality to his incredible running capacity and skill.

The rest of their guns are all fit and in form, I just hope they can maintain it.

I think a dual Brownlow medalist would be one of the best indigenous players the game has seen...

What? No it wouldn't.

Clarkson gets more heat than anyone when it comes to anything anger issues. To suggest otherwise is quite ridiculous, even more so to suggest that anyone else would've copped more heat.
Name a penalty clarkson has ever suffered?

On the Clarko thing, there should be no involvement from the AFL. It happened outside his workplace, therefore it is a civil/criminal matter.

If I hit a bloke at the pub, my work wouldn't be the one punishing me, I don't see how this is different.

Steven Motlop wasn't drunk, just had a harmless can or two of beer with mates watching local footy 3 days before a match and his club suspended him for a match.

Clarkson punches a guy and gets? (And yes it was clearly a punch not a shove/push the 2nd contact)

Would coaches be on a similar contract to players (ie. a 3-way club, afl, coach contract)? If that's the case, there would be a conduct clause.

Actually I'm fairly sure this must be the case, because coaches can be fined for certain comments so AFL must have certain rights over them as part of their contract.
