If he's a shit kick then do the Giants keep playing him?
Greg Williams was a shit kick. Won two Brownlows. Tony Liberatore wasn't a good kick either. Matt Pridis is a below average kick, as is Jobe Watson. Stephen Kernahan kicked 700 odd goals, every one of them was a mongrel, the man couldn't kick a drop punt (or sing) to save his life.

Shit kick in AFL isn't a death knell for a career. In reality, all AFL players are competent kicks. It's about playing within your limitations. Greene hasn't quite worked it out yet. He sometimes goes for kicks that he has a low chance of making, where team mates of his like Griffen and Shiel would make them every time.

Oh My God - Williams was an elite kick off both feet.

I'm torn. I hate Carlton more than almost anything on this planet, but Freo supporters have been so annoyingly uppity of late despite their team turning into absolute shit trucks.

Although both sides supporters deserve a loss, a draw would suffice.

Haven't seen any of Freo this year, and I don't want to be a campaigner by asking on their board, so will do so here: what's the relative importance of factors in terms of them falling off a cliff? Sandi / rule changes / general decline? Is Rossball failing with less stoppages? Is their fitness lacking? Are their mids getting smashed because Sandi isn't there? Mundy out and Barlow dropping off? All of the above?

From what I've seen, their ball movement just isn't quick enough or good enough. Teams are able to set up on them too easily and they just can't score.

Rule changes have forced Lyon to change to a new gameplan with a squad that isn't really built for it and still has to learn it, and they've lost their only quality ruckman. Not much up forward either.

Plus they are getting absolutely smashed at stoppages.
Thanks. :thumbsu:

Gold Coast's 35 + 61 for Freo's 56 + 2016 2nd rounder looking astute right now...

McPharlin has retired, leaving the main post to Dawson.
Johnson is at the end of the line.
Pav has gone on one too many years.
Sandi has been their most important player for years, their other ruck options are complete rubbish.
Fyfe benefited a heap from Sandi.
Barlow has gone backwards in a big way, as has Mundy who is now out injured.
Mayne has gone from one of the best kicks in the league to close to the worst.
Lyon tried to change his game plan but just has nfi how to play an attacking style, now he's tried to wind back the clock but the players just look burnt out like the Saints did after years under manic Lyon pressure.
Their youth is very ordinary.
Their boom recruit is still in the sheds.
Ballantyne can't stay on the park.
Other reasons.

They are cooked.

Not all of the above is true.

Pavlich is doing fine, especially given he is (once again) their only forward option.

Their youth is fine. Not amazing, but they haven't had the draft picks to get anyone too extraordinary. Weller and Grey have done well today.

They're still trying to implement the new plan (which seems unfinished anyway), but their main problem is how to score 100 without letting the opposition score 130.
