Bemusing really- why would they get so wound up? Yes they were bog ordinary, but a) they were playing the reigning premiers and b) it's pre-season.

They seem to, but I wonder if they're any more prevalent than during the season proper. If so, it might be something like pre-season putting strain on the joint, but it not twanging until the intensity is ramped up in match-sim or pre-season games.

That dude is so worried about losing in Round 1, you can just see it. He's trying to get in all the Hird potshots/bookie odds/"it's only preseason" while he still can. Even his own fellow North posters have had a gutfull of him always bringing up Essendon.

His life may literally end if we get up in Round 1.

I remember how he used to always make a thread on Bay 13 back in the late Knights days in 2010, poking fun at our players whenever we lost. He'd run through each player individually and rate their performance. Backfired badly on him when we beat North and ended their season, and I remember he disappeared for a very long time after that.

If Adelaide can get back to scoring goals this season, they could definitely be in the mix. Their fixture isn't quite their marshmallow one from 2 seasons ago, but not the hardest either. Add J-Pod and Betts to the returning Walker and that is a lot more firepower. On top of that, they can play Dangerfield both midfield and forward to great effect, which will be crucial (much like Essendon with Jobe) with the new interchange cap coming in.

All that said, if they miss finals again, I can honestly see Goodwin coaching there next year.
