There's something utterly soulless about GWS. I really struggle to watch them. Not sure if it is the sheer number of top draft picks they have or the fact their brand means nothing to me.....I dunno it's weird.
I think it's both.

Will be one of the most hollow flags won by a team ever if they win it.

They're the club nobody asked for.

My favourite part is in 10 or 15 years when they pull their alleged crowds of 5,000 we will be told of the need to keep them competitive and there will be concessions.

Maybe we could get some concessions for "taking the fall" for the league and being the only club that survive.

Maybe not but there was no need for them to have an academy.
Everyone has academies now anyway. Vic/SA/WA teams have zones in their home states and the Northern Territory where they can develop multicultural and Indigenous kids and get them the same way the northern clubs do with their academies (or the way we do with father/sons).

You can debate whether they should have the Riverina as part of their zone but ultimately the idea is that they develop kids that would not otherwise have played Aussie rules football and they are funnelled into the AFL system. Eventually when they can't fit them all in the salary cap they start getting traded out and other clubs will benefit.

GWS are gonna be docked 1000 draft points (that's the equivalent of a third of pick 1 or about pick 10) due to the Whitfield saga as well, so that will help a little for this year's draft.

Fair enough.

Imo the only ones who are enjoying the Giants is Gilligan and co.
I've got a couple of friends in Canberra that go for them, So that's 3 lol.

But there's been a lot of good teams through out time that have under performed and not won anywhere near the flags they should have.

Nothing is on the level of what the Riverina was.
