If lady has banana to fling, she racist.

If Bomber has off-site injection, he drug cheat.

On the surface it looks racist but we really don't know her true motives. We are assuming they were racist motives. It looks terrible and should be expressed as such from the AFL. To do otherwise is as culturally insensitive as the girl's actions.

The problem for her is that this is a public crucifixion that undoubtedly could have big ramifications for the girl's reputation. I'm always very careful not to be part of a social media lynching. I think it is massively problematic and often judgment is made through a narrow prism.

The Goodes thing was racist as much as people try to argue around the fact. Sure, most boo him because they didn't like him as a player but once it was known that it was racially offensive to Goodesy it should never have escalated to more intense booing. This goes to the core of our ignorance on culturally sensitive issues in that we are oblivious to the hurt it causes. It also undoubtedly attracted racist fans to join in the booing because they could hide behind the mass indignation of those who were booing in defiance of Goodesy's stance.
It's people's desperation to defend their integrity, they want to hate Goodes for different reasons but are called racist for booing but do it anyway just so they have an excuse. I didn't like Goodes in his last year mostly because he dived for frees but not once did I boo him I don't think I've ever booed a player. I feel booing is mostly done by uneducated bogans who have very little idea about the harm it does or even why they boo in the first place.

booing seems juvenile to me, but then again I'm pretty quiet at the footy.
I don't get overly excited or agitated.
You get frustrated. Sometimes you want to throw whatever you have at an umpire or some imbecile in the crowd. But you don't. Cos in kinder you were taught don't throw things at people. It's what keeps bricks out of the faces of the countless f'wits people breed.

Throwing a banana is racist. She had plenty of opps to throw that banana at any other player or an umpire. She chose Eddie. She also chose a banana. I don't know anyone who takes food to the footy that only takes a banana. following it up by calling him a monkey (if i believe those around her) then its racist.

Solution. If you can't contain yourself to act better than the 5 year olds who also go to the footy, stay home.

The thing I didn't understand about the Goodes thing (although I didn't follow it that carefully) is that everybody seemed to make assumptions on the small group of Carlton supporters in question. But until we heard the explanation from that group of people we just couldn't make a judgment.

I wanted to get their rationale or reasons for why they were booing (even if there was Buckley's chance of that) not just peoples opinions. Everything seemed to be drowned out by speculation and there didn't seem to be much mature dialogue.

Did the AFL, Goodes, and those Carlton supporters sit down and try to work it through? The whole thing was really reactionary I thought and sadly it culminated in another Indigenous round which many people didn't quite know what it was about.

How Goodes and Betts interpret the actions is most important and awareness and respect to sensitivities in regard to culture also but I feel uneasy labelling people racist even if things appear clear cut.

But, as I said, I didn't follow it that carefully, and there may have been some stark instances of out and out racism.

I think I saw someone anticipate it and grab the arm once and got him HTB.

Apparently NO ONE ELSE EVER SAW THIS EVER

I'm not sure if this is the Mick Malthouse press conference or Swan's. Regardless, Dane has certainly had a wonderful and at times colourful career. Unfortunate that it ended the way that it did.

I must admit I laughed the last time I saw someone throw banana at a black person.

Granted it was my toddler son, and it was thrown at my wife. It may or may not have been mushed up a bit and stuck to her forehead.

I will however suggest he undertakes some intensive cultural program by sending him to stay with his grandmother for a few days.

It never escalated because people found out it was offensive to Goodes
It escalated because the SJW types told people they were booing because they were racist and they should stop it, those high and mighty types who like to tell you they know the reason you do something better than you do.
It escalated because Goodes played into the victim mentality.

The moment the consensus amongst the perennially offended and insensitive types deemed any negative fervor towards Goodes was racist the more it increased

That girl should have been dealt with on the night and a suitable punishment handed down and that should have been the end of it. same with the girl in the Betts situation

North have told Boomer, Firrito, Dal Santo and Petrie they won't be renewing them for next year.
Ruthless and smart.
Great player management, they'll land a big fish now.

As a supporter I'd hope that senior players at our club get to tell everyone at a press conference that they are retiring.

Its amazing the contrast between the biggest club in the land yesterday (Collingwood) handled the retirement of one of their greatest ever. Getting Malthouse together with Buckley and Eddie at a presser with Dane Swan. And the smaller clubs handle things.

It really is the right choice for North. The age profile of their list is woeful.

Whislt I agree, it's amazing that they're delisting 2 guys (Harvey and Dal Santo) who will likely be top 5 in the award named after an Essendon premiership captain/coach.

They could've staggered it in the same manner Geelong have, but they simply squeezed the list too hard for too long which has almost forced them to do this.

Timing = sad attempt to get more than 20 people to the game this week as they limp into the finals.

As terrible as our last few years have been for the obvious reasons, i thank my lucky stars i dont follow an irrelevant pissant minnow club like norf.
