Boomer is past his used by date as an effective 2 way player.

Didn't realize it til I went to a norf game with a mate last year but his 2 way running is very lacking (something thats impossible to note watching via telecast)

stays forward of the ball, doesnt man up at contest, and seldom gets back to fill a hole in their zone.

He pretty much loiters around and waits for a turnover then sprints forward

he may still get the pill a fair bit but Id love to know what his direct opponent gets as well.

My old rep coach used to call them 30/30 players, he may get 30 touches but his opponent will as well

Nothing like kicking your best player to the curb so you can give his spot to a kid that's just been done for high range drink driving, it's the best of looks

Should throw Harvey a one year lifeline just to watch Arden St and the Norf board make Chernobyl and Fukushima look like a walk in the park.
Ha, just said this in the trade thread.

This is a must for the off season.

North have told Boomer, Firrito, Dal Santo and Petrie they won't be renewing them for next year.
Ruthless and smart.
Great player management, they'll land a big fish now.

I know they'll have cap space but is north Melbourne somewhere people are going to want to be in the near future? They're barely in the eight as it is, and are basically initiating a rebuild as of right now, so you figure they at least tread water next year, if not take a bit of a plunge.

I am not sure they can even tread water, 9th-13th are quite strong, and with us coming through.

Has anyone made the joke that they cut their olds so they could sign up our top ups now that the news came through they can be signed as DFA's? Because that seems like a joke that should be made.
Mind if I borrow it?

The only thing I can think of is that the powers that be at North thought that they would try to inspire the retiring players to prove them wrong by nailing them to the wall before the end of the year. Surely announcing this after they made their inevitable exit after their first final would have been a more respectful way to go.

This is plausible. But, wow imagine your playing list's feelings post 2016 when the club uses words like 'Loyalty'

So if Goddard had decided to go to Nth instead of Essendon, would he be sacked today also?

What's the deal with Jarrod Waite did they give him 3 years?

EDIT: just found an article from late June where it says he has a 2 year deal also.

Has this quote in there too:
“In the next few years there’ll be a lot more players playing further past 30 (years of age). It’s good that the clubs still have faith in the older players.”

He'll be 34 next year. He and possibly Wells who turns 32 and gets injured getting in and out of the shower might be gone too. Scott Thompson must be early 30's also.
