Hawthorn's 2016 mirrors Geelong's 2014 - Won lots of games including a number of close games, finished in the top 4 with a poor percentage - Both out in straight sets - At least Hawthorn by recruiting Mitchell and O'Meara have correctly identified clear deficiencies in their game.

Pains me to post a Jon Ralph tweet but its a stark reminder of were we are at. A club with half the funds of us can do this.

Because that's what I want to see happen in the year we had half our team ripped from us. A GWS flag is the most meaningless thing that could happen. Literally nobody will give a shit except the AFL and the joke is on everyone else.

We'll see some good footyball though. :thumbsu:
Yep 100% with you on this Beery.

Going to be one of the most lowest GF final crowds in a long time if the Giants make it and if they win it no one will care.

Only teams I have a connection with are dogs and swans. Grandpa goes for dogs and he is a ripper bloke and my best mate goes for swans if they make the grand final I might be able to go see it live which I've never done before!

A very astute comparison. Found out in the crucible of finals pressure, basically.

How can you not want Bulldogs to win it this year? Cats and Swans have had plenty of chances. I don't like Adelaide and GWS are going to win many flags with a super team.

Bulldogs haven't played in a grand final since 1961, have only played in 2 grand finals with multiple prelim heartbreaks.

They've also had a tough run with injuries this year, yet continue to put in 100% and play for each other.

Take it home Doggies

I can actually enjoy the rest of the finals series without stressing about Hawthorn now! Relieved!

So many injuries yet the doggies are still going strong. Crazy effort. If they lose next week, I can't see the Giants winning on the big day. Massive for Geelong, Sydney and Adelaide. All 3 of them could possible have a flag if they can get through the next 2 games. Not trying to discount GWS, I just feel that they might choke being such an inexperienced side.

So pumped to watch Adelaide V Sydney. Massive game!

And then you think about Peter Gordon.

I just think a GWS flag will feel meaningless as Beerfish said the only people who will care are the AFL.

It never feels empty if you win an AFL premiership - Especially if the best side wins the premiership.
